Motorcycle gangs are no good.

That's an assertion of opinion, not a revelation of feeling.

“being on the motorcycle is an individualist pursuit”

LOL! Individual? Get real.

When a person joins a motorcycle gang he loses ALL personal identity.

He is told what to wear, what to ride, when to ride and where to ride and what position to ride in.

Everything is for the club.

And when a Bandido bashes your head in for wearing a Texas rocker, remember that he is not being mean, he’s just being a Bandido.

Did that happen to you?

“Certainly, what is known as the dominant club in an area will not unusually have a more respected voice at the table. It’s common, but not an imperative, practice for the head of any COC organization to be from that dominant club.”

If 99% of the riders are NOT outlaws, how can a fraction of 1% become the ‘dominant club’ and dictate to the other 99+% what to wear and where to ride?

“”I have attended a meeting in private where club business was discussed”

I thought it was an ‘open’ meeting organization ...

Charles Manson come to my mind.

LOL! Individual? Get real.

I think parsing words and language has begun, in a way, to impede your understanding. But that can happen when hypervigilance is combined with defensiveness.

I was referring to "individual" in terms of the actual operation of a vehicle. The relationship between an individual and his or her motorcycle, is an intimate one (no vehicle rides the same) and has a lot to do with the engagement of the priopreceptor muscles and being in the "zone" when operating in traffic.

When a person joins a motorcycle gang he loses ALL personal identity.

I don't know anything about motorcycle gangs, they may exist in other countries? Here we have motorcycle clubs, which isn't the same thing.

He is told what to wear, what to ride, when to ride and where to ride and what position to ride in.

Kind of like what happens when soldiers are on parade, right? Which is a good thing, it gives discipline and order and unit cohesion and most importantly, group reaction under threat. Other drivers on the road are often very dangerous.

Everything is for the club.

What club are you speaking for?

What happened? Sounds like this is personal to you.

Which is exactly counter to your claim of ‘individualism’.

BTW I agree this is “off thread”! Well, it isn’t the first time and won’t be the last . . . If we should take it off-line, I am willing . . .

I didn't mean to imply that; this is an open forum. The horned cats can come zotpaw at their leisure if we drift too far.

Respectfully, I disagree with your premise, above, of the “unquestionably masculine, which draws attention.” The “truly masculine” (in the mind of a healthy girl or woman) is the mutual provider, the defender of women and children. The “truly masculine” seeks not to subdue his female partner, but to appreciate her and advance HER powers to the mutual benefit of both him and the family. The true male knows that he succeeds only with a female partner, mate, wife, who is his equal OR BETTER! The secure, wise, truly masculine man, can accept and appreciate and indeed SEEK a woman who is his superior in . . . intelligence? commitment? .. . if not physical strength.

Well, I concur again on a number of levels. My comment on masculinity was not that the biker was "most masculine" but "notably masculine" in culture. And I'm speaking of appearances, for the most part - what draws attention, what pulls the interest. The "truly masculine" exists as well on a continuum (as most things do) that Robert Hicks has done well to describe.

This I know, for I have a father and husband in that character. I have great empathy for women who believe they have to settle for less.

Then you are thrice blessed, in them and in your appreciation, as the three legs of a sacred seat to support your family across generations. Not all are blessed equally.

Time for a ride... much respect.

Which country are you in?

A country of old men, where the land is dark but a bitter sun dawns behind a black flag of stars.

Which is exactly counter to your claim of ‘individualism’.

Well, one can't be right all the time.

I'm heading southwest for a while. Have a good evening. R>
I'm still interested in why you feel so strongly.

If a gal is pretty, she is drawn to a biker?? Not in my experience.

Your experience may be rather limited, dear.

“Not all are blessed equally.”

The reason for my empathy for those not so blessed. But it took some determination on my part, too, to finally find a worthy and decent husband! My father, of course, came before me, I can claim no credit for him, but only great appreciation.

And indeed, I do tell the stories for future generations. That is my real purpose. Thank you for understanding and appreciating what I have been trying to convey. Were there enough good men, there would be more than enough good women for them. Where there are weak mothers (and weak fathers) there are weak men. Where there are accepting “pretty girls” and accepting “girl friends” of weak men, there will be weak men. It seems to make a man, there has to be something challenging him to his best; those who indulge him in his weakness, do no service to him or society.

thx and etc.

“Your experience may be rather limited, dear.”

No, not in the least! I have been fortunate to meet real men during my life, not the least my father and husband. Not the least, the over 150 men in my heavy maintenance company on active duty. I have met enough real men. Farmers, mechanics, lumber yard owners, soldiers, laborers, hardware store owners etc. I have enough experience with real men, to know one when I see one. A blowhard on a bike impresses me, not. Just saying. Also saying, I respect Vets and other legitimate bikers. Just that bikers in general are no icons of anything. No icons of masculinity, no icons of freedom-fighters above any other freedom-loving citizens.

No, dear, my experience is not limited.

You do realize that all the attacks on bikers on these Waco threads are NOTHING MORE than attempts to deflect from very likely OVERREACTIONS by the Obama regime’s BATF operatives and their local Waco government & police officials acting on BATF’s behalf?

I hope you’re not joining in these attempts to deflect merely because of some bad experience you may have had with someone who just happened to ride a motorcycle.

To TexasGator (from Florida), you come in on a thread that links to a Breitbart article detailing that the original “judge” (Justice of the Peace Peterson) involved in this Waco fiasco has BEEN REMOVED FROM THE CASE and the judge that removed him has filed a complaint with the State Commission on Judicial Conduct alleging that the JP violated the judicial canons of ethics in how he presided over the biker cases. So the subject of this thread is GOVERNMENT CORRUPTION and you come in with your pathetic attempts to deflect from this by attacking bikers and the FReepers who have legitimate concerns about misuse of Governmental powers.

Do you lick the boots of BATF agents in addition to the boots worn by your favored SWAT teams? You sure seem to worship the leather guys.
