Wall Street Journal: Cruz’s closeness to Trump reveals ‘lack of character’
The Dallas Morning News' Trail Blazers ^ | July 20, 2015 | Sylvan Lane

Sen. Ted Cruz insists he won’t wage “violence” on Republicans–which is part of the reason why he won’t condemn Donald Trump’s comments about immigrants and prisoners of war.

The Wall Street Journal isn’t holding back, though.

The paper’s conservative editorial board slammed Cruz and praised former Gov. Rick Perry for their starkly different responses to Trump’s claim that Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., “is only a war hero because he got captured. I like people who weren’t captured better.”

Perry, an Air Force veteran, had one of the quickest and most forceful condemnations of Trump, insisting the real estate mogul wasn’t fit to be commander in chief and should drop out of the race.

But Cruz, who met with Trump last week and has praised him for drawing attention to illegal immigration, defended McCain but refused to comment about Trump.

The Journal’s editorial board wrote Monday that Perry should get “full credit” for criticizing Trump, but said Cruz was “revealing his own lack of political character” and rebuked his reasons for staying out of the fray.

“Mr. Cruz recently released a book whose main theme is an attack on other Republicans,” wrote the editorial board. “It’s central to his campaign strategy. The Texas Senator must be hoping to inherit Trump voters once the casino magnate flames out.”(continued)

I don’t remember the WSJ editorial “ Obama’s closeness with Al Sharpton reveals lack of character”.

It was printed in white ink, which is racist.

An exchange of insults--like pre-adolescent confrontations in a playground--is not an issue for anyone really serious about an American future, to get upset over. That the Journal would seek to focus attention on that exchange--and draw moral conclusions from that exchange, antagonistic to those who have the sense not to comment on that exchange--is to take journalistic absurdity into the clouds of really confused analysis.

Let me suggest that the Journal focus on something that concerns the U.S. Military, that is 1,000 times as important as Trump returning John McCain's insult, with one of his own. What is that?

In recent weeks and months there have been repeated threats from America haters, against our military personnel & their families. Yet the Administration still has Marines & others, serving as potential targets in "gun free zones." Does anyone reading this not believe that that is the sort of outrage that the Journal ought to be concerned with--not an exchange of insults?

Will anyone defend the mental priorities of the Journal staff, in this situation? They, not Senator Cruz, who has a sense of proportion, need to be the butt of condemnation & ridicule.

How about “I listened closely to what Trump said and he did not say McCain was not a war hero. However, this is a free country and Mr. Trump has the right to say whatever he believes”.

Donald Trump Tops Third GOP Poll This Month

This is a war, it's the grass roots tea party folks against the GOPe. Sitting on your butt, kissing McCain a$$ hoping Trump fails in the real war being fougth right fricken now. is not leadership, is not displaying character and it is not smart either.

Check out Ted Cruz's facebook, he is being ripped to pieces for kissing McCain butt.

By the WSJ logic, Gerge HW Bush has no character as he considers Bill Clinton his son.

For the first time in my lifetime, we have the prospect of a Third Party ticket that could win! I think the country is so fed up with both parties and their games that sell us out, that a Cruz/ Trump or Trump/Cruz ticket would be dynamite!

If the GOP keeps messing with them, I wish they would just declare Third Party and go for it. You can bet they will make a move at just the right time. It is going to be something to see!

WSJ cannot stand actual conservatism.

WSJ is a corporatist, law breaking, anti-freedom cabal. Karen Eliot House’s editorial the other day appeared to have been completely ghost written by the House of Saud.

WSJ can STFU.
