Why Do So Many People Hate the Sound of Hillary Clinton's Voice?
New Republic ^ | May 1, 2015 | Elspeth Reeve

ou know Hillary Clinton’s voice, right? I mean, you know it. It’s just so loud and annoying. Or maybe it's like a nagging wife. Or inauthentic—that phony Southern accent! Those flat Midwestern vowels! Whatever it is, her voice is burned into your brain.

Now think of Jeb Bush’s voice. It’s so—wait, what does it sound like again? He sounds just ... like a guy, maybe? It's probably hard for you to recall distinguishing features about most of the Republican candidates. Maybe you don’t know what Ted Cruz sounds like, except that he sounds like a jerk. Why? In part it's because women’s voices are scrutinized more. It's also because Clinton has been in the public eye for far longer. The conventional wisdom about Clinton's character has fully matured, but it's still forming for her potential Republican competitors, like a cicada grub nestled underground. Despite our collective sexist tendencies, the Republican candidates' voices will eventually get some attention.

A politician's voice shapes how we see him. Take, for example, Lenny Bruce’s early 1960s imitation of Lyndon Johnson. "They didn't let him talk for the first six months," Bruce says. "It took him six months to learn how to say negro." He imagines handlers trying to teach Johnson to say “negro,” but the sound of the n-word keeps slipping through. In frustration, Bruce-as-Johnson yelps, "I cain't hep it! I cain't say it! ... Lemme show mah scar." Johnson had a reputation as crude and uncultured. Of course, he went on to sign landmark civil rights laws.

The first and best explanation is that when people hate someone, they'll usually find some personal characteristic about the person they hate as as means of channeling their personal hatred from her to a less guilt-ridden inanimate object. And since Hillary's voice is the first form of contact in which they get to learn what an unctuous, abominable reprehensible person she is, they'll usually pick on the voice for that very reason

The second reason, not as well known is that when Hillary made her move on Huma, offering her money, employment, love. affection and security Huma was still not convinced because after Weiner boy she wanted someone more masculine in tone and in bed. and wouldn't agree to any relationship until Hillary signed up for a combination of hormone/steroid enhancement program that changed the timbre of her voice and made her more muscular, her thighs more meatier, the way the women like it in Muslim countries.

Of course, I'm kidding.

‘our collective sexist tendencies’

It’s always amazing that people are actually paid to write drivel.

the finest description of her thighness to date

Because it is the voice of a lying, whining, obfuscating, two-faced, piece of crap with the best interests of herself in mind, rather than her country.

A pox on her, her husband and their adopted child, the spawn of Web Hubbell.

Have a nice day.

Why?

Because she sounds like a screeching old dementia patient in a nursing home.

With the talk of Rick Snyder running for president I’ve been wondering how people would react to the sound of his voice. LOL

Coded sexism. People think “coded” language is a real thing.

It’s harsh, it’s hectoring, it’s that hideous Chicago accent and she makes no attempt to correct it. Margaret Thatcher was told her voice was too high-pitched and she sought out voice teachers to help her. One advantage the faux Indian has over Clinton is her soft-spoken approach.

Elspeth. I’d like to see her parent. She may be young and look good, but her head is full of rabid liberal trash.

Nope, no bias at the New Republic. They're just neutral observers and reporters on the news.

This is also inaccurate as she mentions that no one has a problem with Ted Cruz’s voice. Well, I do. It is high-pitched and nasally and he needs to work on it as well. I spoke to someone who knew him and he said that he never would. So, while I would happily vote for him, his voice drives me up a wall. There. I’ve said it.

Blackboards screeching, cats howling, dogs barking, breaks squealing, etc. are the sounds that come out of Kankles.

She seemed to have a voice coach now.

Her latest speech had her voice softer and slower. That is probably what the focus groups suggested. It was quite a contrast with her previous UN speech.

Can/will she continue the soft-and-slower?

Probably not, because her soft-and-slower does not exude strong leadership.

“Why Do So Many People Hate the Sound of Hillary Clinton’s Voice?”

To many, her screaming reminds many of their ex-wives.

I enjoyed the overt “Ted Fear”!

There is half a point made about the “bubba to bubbles” relationship.

The Bubbas speak from the heart and soul.
