Jeb Bush: Give 11 million immigrants a chance to stay.

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush declared Wednesday that 11 million immigrants in the country illegally should have an opportunity to stay, wading yet again into his party's contentious immigrant debate.

"We're a nation of immigrants," Bush said at the National Christian Hispanic Leadership Conference that brought several hundred Hispanic evangelical leaders to Houston this week. "This is not the time to abandon something that makes us special and unique."

A successful immigration overhaul is more than simply strengthening the border, Bush said, referring to "11 million people that should come out from the shadows and receive earned legal status." He said such immigrants should be required to pay taxes, work and not receive government benefits.

Republicans have struggled to win over the nation's surging Hispanic population in recent years.

Not since the 2004 re-election campaign of President George W. Bush, Jeb's older brother, has a Republican presidential candidate earned as much as 40 percent of the Hispanic vote. Mitt Romney earned a dismal 27 percent in losing what was widely considered a winnable 2012 contest.

Jebbie is being very brash and uncompromising on his "Amnesty" issue. Before I read the article, I was wondering if he might be trying to wrestle the Hispanic vote away from Cruz and Rubio, who both ARE Hispanic. And, I think that's what is his game plan.

there are more like 20 million illegals here already...
i’d say register and apply thru the normal channels... and in the meantime if you commit a crime..ADIOS
obama has neglected national security at the border and the dems feel they own the minority vote and feel illegals will vote dem.. and dont kid your good self, they will be voting citizens or not...Airhead Biden is quoted as saying “illegals are the FUTURE of the dem party”... and he meant it...
IF THE PROBLEM IS GOING TO BE DEALT WITH THRU THE LAW THE REPUBS ARE IN A POSITION TO DO SOMETHING.... and if not kiss 2016 goodbye

“Why does Jeb want all these likely liberal voters?”

Jeb’s vision for the GOP is to shift to the left. He believes the “new” Republican party will be able to attract liberals once the party sheds its right wing tea party image.

The Bush family was never conservative. The Bush’s have more in common with Teddy Kennedy and Bill Clinton than they do with the average American in flyover country.

He’s talking illegals, right? The uneducated who get paid under the table, allowing unscrupulous employers to avoid taxes while depriving our kids of starter jobs? The one who end up on welfare and getting their kids educated for free, all on the taxpayer’s dime? The ones who end up victims of the underground slave trade (aka human trafficking)?

Why on earth should we be talking about anything other than putting them on buses or planes back to their countries of origin? Force *their* countries to reform, don’t allow them to dump their problem (e.g. poor) citizens on us.

“special and unique” are not synonymous with “excellence”. Nor does either constitute “value added.”

Serial killers are “unique” as are politicians who have risen to high (the highest) office without a shred of qualification, truth or desire to truly propel their constituency to excellence and value.

The PC mob uses that word, too - special. I’m sure citizens in this country want “special” people - 11 million of them - all over its expanse. Yep, just dandy Jeb. You frigging Mexican.

"11 million people that should come out from the shadows"

Jeb needs to get out more.

The illegals aren't in the shadows - in fact they are everywhere but in the shadows.

They're like cockroaches - you can't get away from them.

Going into our local Walmart is like taking a trip to Tijuana.

They're in Walmart and the grocery stores, they're in the schools and colleges, at the drivers license office, at the welfare office and the Social Security office, at the city and county council meetings demanding more free stuff, on the evening news and demonstrating on Main Street telling us what is wrong with our country.

Is Jebbie eligible to run for President of Mexico? If so, I think he should.

What is the fixation with that number?

The pro amnesty crowd figures it's not quite as frightening as if they use the actual number of 30 to 40 million illegals that have swamped the country.

the actual number of 30 to 40 million illegals

To put that into context, that's like the combined population of Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois, and Indiana.

Why is everyone so concerned about 8% of the electorate?

Rubio, Bush, Grahamnesty and all the other amnesty candidates can go to hell, I will never vote for national suicide.

Why only 11 million Jeb? Go for the whole bunch of them! And anyone in the future who crosses the borders or lands on our shores! That’ll get you some votes. NOT.

Why do politicians think so little of these people that amnesty=lifetime vote?

Illegal aliens cannot register through normal channels unless they go home and apply like everybody else who is an actual immigrant.

We either have the rule of law or we don’t.
