People who are poo-pooing pinochet are forgetting that the Left will use anything against a person on our side that they can. They’ll resort to lies, half-truths, and distortions.

I can see the appeal of country music lyrics after 9/11.

I'm sorry but all I can think of is "Freedom Isn't Free (Freedom Costs a Buck 'O Five)" from Team America.

I don’t feel the suns comin’ out today
its staying in, its gonna find another way.
As I sit here in this misery, I don’t
think I’ll ever know lord seen the sun from here.

And oh as I fade away,
they’ll all look at me and say, and they’ll say,
Hey look at him! I’ll never live that way.
But that’s okay
they’re just afraid to change.

When you feel your life ain’t worth living
you’ve got to stand up and
take a look around you then a look way up to the sky.
And when your deepest thoughts are broken, lord
you know you keep on dreaming boy, when you stop you know you’re gonna die, and right now I don’t want to die

And as we all play parts of tomorrow,
some ways will work and other ways we’ll play.
But I know we all can’t stay here forever,
so I want to write my words on the face of today.
and then they’ll paint it

And oh as I fade away,
they’ll all look at me and they’ll say,
Hey look at him and where he is these days.
When life is hard, you have to change.

Cruz doesn’t say he doesn’t like Rock Music. He said he didn’t like how Rock responded to 9-11.

I love Rush. They came out with an album just after 9-11. It was the first album that they got together again after Neil Peart’s daughter died (car wreck) and wife died (cancer) shortly after that.

Most of it was writing about his experiences, and some songs were tweeked to include the 9-11 tragedy. Of course Peart had to diss ALL religions for 9-11.

I still love Rush, but yeah - I didn’t care for how they “responded to 9-11” either.

We’ve got Stephen Tyler coming out with a Country Album..... It may not be possible to divide rock and country anymore.

Nobody would ever admit to hating Jazz. Not anybody I’ve ever met.

Part of the problem, I think, is that a lot of groups/artists (RUSH included) felt like thy had to do/say/write/sing something of “relevance” to the event. Everything I’ve heard sounds self-conscious, subdued, and artless. No one could even simply make a good sad song.

It seems with country music, however, there were songs at-hand to sing and play in response to the event. Sad songs, patriotic songs, stirring songs... They didn’t need the event for them to be written. They were made and played already!

I used to listen to RUSH a lot when I was younger (and YES, and King Crimson, and Roxy Music...). I’m still happy to listen to all of them. But ever since I moved to Texas, my tastes changed a bit. My favorite Texas artists are Terry Allen, Reverend Horton Heat, and Junior Brown. I’ve also listened to a lot of Brian Setzer since 9-11. That guy makes rock-n-roll music the way it used to be made, circa. 1959. Give or take a few years!

“Anybody who thinks Cruz is trying to divide rock and country fans is too stupid to vote anyway.”

Perhaps, but they WILL vote in any case.

Cruz is totally on the national stage now, he cannot afford any missteps. The D’s will seize upon the slightest thing to take him down.

How about not worrying about every hiccup.

Cruz looks like he has a far more powerful thing: God’s grace.

The people who are in a panic over every little thing need to get over it.

I’ve never seen a candidate so prepared to handle an unfriendly media.

Ted Neugent?

OK so he's not a candidate but it would be fun

There was a time when Shemane Nugent was half seriously tossed out to run for Governor of Michigan.

“Ted Cruz Will Lose, if He Tries To Divide Rock Music and Country Music Fans”

OMG, his entire election teeters on what kind of sound this guy prefers. He’ll lose the rapper vote, heavy metal, folk, grunge, opera, satanic chanters, and punk vote.

What’s his favorite team and does he like chicken?

Heavy metal tends to lend itself to conservatism anyway at least it does as these guys get older.

>> David Ellefson (Bass), like his bandmate Dave Mustaine (Vocals/guitar), is a committed Christian. “Well, I was actually brought up in a Christian household, so I have, you know, a pretty broad knowledge of it; and strayed from it for quite a while. And, now that I have children, I actually do go to church, so I’ve kinda sorta returned to it, you know?” David further discussed his Chistianity in a 2010 interview on The Full Armor of God Broadcast explaining “I’ve found that when you just suit up and show up and walk your talk instead of talking your talk all the time, that is often the best testimony!”<<

“They didn’t need the event for them [country music] to be written. They were made and played already!”

Just like the old-time hymns. Our family went to the town hall lawn the night after 9-11 and had prayers, sangs hymns, lit candles, etc. (and this in a liberal suburb of Seattle!)
