He took the weapon to Bullhead City police, who say it was not registered or reported lost or stolen.

The Browning Arms match-shooting pistol had a magazine loaded, a round in the chamber and the safety off, the couple said.Neglected is the mention, "Not reported lost or stolen." Sort of a moot point here, but 'just sayin'...I know where my weapons are; what sort of rich, golf-playing JA doesn't? Perhaps some poor guy/gal's father's estate.-snip-
The Grewings, self-described snowhawks think snowbirds who follow the Seattle Seahawks are recreational target shooters, who own less expensive .22 pistols similar to the Browning. Mel said he has long told Cheryl she should get into competitive shooting, and the couple expressed interest in keeping the Browning, if it came back clean.

Mel Grewing said police checked out the pistol he found Wednesday.
It wasnt registered, he said. It wasnt (reported) stolen. Its our property.
In Arizona, Fromelt said, a private-party sale of a firearm does not have to be registered, but obtaining a bill of sale or receipt is encouraged for such transactions.
Curious that the modern Browning target pistols are typically all longer than the 4" that appears in the lousy article photo, but I don't really know .22s. The pistol looks like this '60s-era Challenger.
There's a lesson in this: If a family member has weapons and consequent illness, locate & secure those weapons. We don't need tragic examples like what could have happened here being used to bolster the anti-2A blather...
Though...I do have this fleeting fantasy that the golf bag belonged to Mark Kelly...
Exactly how many irons were in that bag? I hope he wasn’t over the limit!
Taurus “Judge” .410 pistol would be better, from a safer distance. Swinging a club gets one too close to the critter.
Great big gobs of greasy, grimy gopher guts.
“Though...I do have this fleeting fantasy that the golf bag belonged to Mark Kelly.”
If it had been mark kelly-giffords bag it probably would have been stuffed with illegal “contributions” to their “foundation”. Luck for us they fully support the 2nd amendment. Well, with lots of infingements attached of course. :>}
Who knew Arizona golf courses were so rough?
One might conceivably encounter a rattlesnake on an Arizona golf course.
In which case, though, a seven-iron would make a pretty effective weapon.
Not with my swing
The possible irony still makes me smile.
In my part of the country they’re trying to pass universal background checks again (and likely have the votes). Delays for law-abiding citizens have been rampant in the current system for not only weapons, but parts as well, have been a week to 3 months. The system cannot handle private-transfer background checks.
The true irony is that with the current system, an FFL-holder/business owner received a ‘delay’ on a birthday gift for his wife...a .22 rifle, finished full-on in PINK.
I suggested they should take it to the legislature for visual effect, as the fireworks over this remarkable ‘irony’ begin Monday.
You don't shoot a rattlesnake on a golf course unless you're on the 18th hole and your buddy is about to sink a 5 foot putt to win the match........
“If a family member has weapons and consequent illness”
I think you mean “subsequent illness”. “Consequent illness” would imply that the weapons caused the illness.
Correct. My train of thought changed as did the comment.
Neglected that bit. Thanks.
“Consequent” being what happens to all libs/progs...
Seriously jealous here, Doc. Nice find on the Woodsman and handled with appropriate discretion, IMO.
TBIRD
Thanks. I’ve only shot it once, because it’s so perfect, it’s locked away.
No worries, mate. (Wish I’d find a good pistol in a thrift shop purchase some day.)
Here in Floriduh, we have Gators to deal with on courses, not to mention bob cats, snakes, and a whole lot of crazy northerners.
There are many handguns that are legal and NOT registered or otherwise know to the nanny state.
I never find cool stuff.
Who knew Arizona golf courses were so rough?”
Not just Arizona. There is a public course in Houston - where I won’t play any more - and you best carry if you are going to be stupid enough to play. Holes 8-11 are very, very isolated and people are robbed on a pretty regular basis. Sad thing is that it really was a great, challenging and inexpensive course.
The “more ethical” thing might have been to alert the previous owner, saying “something valuable” was found in the car and if you want it and can describe it so that I know it really was yours, it will be returned. Golden rule stuff, ya know.
Reminds me of my neighbor. He bought a nice used ford F 250. I was over in his garage and I spotted a cane. I asked where he got it and he said it was behind the back seat. I walked over and pulled the top and out came a sword. My neighbors eyes got wide. He had know idea it was a sword cane. I spotted it right off the bat.
Yeah, except I was extremely pissed about driving around for two weeks with a loaded gun under the seat. What would have happened if I’d been pulled over for something? I wouldn’t give permission to search, but I also had no clue the gun was there!
