I did that to try and get some sense of why, after reading this: On Immigration, Cruz Aims for Middle Ground, Walker is being hammered while Cruz's similar position is overlooked.
I know that Scott Walker wasn't on top of this issue and I'm glad he's begun to give it the attention it deserves (like he did the last 4 years battling the unions in WI - which began with the signing of budget that revoked in-state tuition for illegals). March 2011:
Walker Revokes In-state Tuition For Undocumented Students Attending Univ And Colleges In Wisconsin "..........More than 200 protestors were outside the company with signs calling Walker, "You dirty rat" and "Shame, shame." ........................" [It wasn't long before 100,000 activists were surrounding the capital and sleeping inside.]
An activist DA and Prosecutor have also been waging (and this is ongoing) a 4 year secret John Doe investigation on Walker and Conservatives in Wisconsin: Part 188 of 188 in the series Wisconsin's Secret War.
So, here is a OpEd from a conservative site by someone who seems very conservative, asking for clarity about Cruz's position on illegals in the country.
A read of the full piece is helpful.
There are those who prefer to attack me, rather than address this honestly but it must be addressed because Jeb will bring this up in the first debate.
So please address the issue, as posed in the American Thinker article.
And let's remain allies in electing a conservative - Not a Jeb. Not a Hillary.
"Yesterday, I was accused of bringing up Sen. Cruz's stance on immigration in a nefarious way when I attached a CRUZ quote and link to a story (from a liberal outlet) about Bush and Walker (and immigration)...."
Ted Cruz disputes MSNBC claim he supports legalization of illegal immigrants

Rare is a politician who won’t tailor ideology to the electorate of the moment
Especially this ultra hot issue
It’s crazy that an issue like this which is political suicide for the GOP resulting in a demographic winter from which they might never return
That they are so ambiguous about it
Time will tell on ALL these candidates
You only know precisely where one stands.....Jebbie
And it’s bad....
The 2013 article on Cruz’s immigration position that you cite, “On Immigration, Cruz Aims for Middle Ground” is from the Texas Tribune, a left-wing publication, funded by a Soros front group. It quotes a New York Times article that inaccurately, and deceitfully, paraphrases something that Cruz purportedly said about regularizing the status of illegals. This has been discussed in a couple of threads yesterday.
This is a key question that NONE of them wants to answer, but will have to.
Its unpleasant and any answer to it is unpopular.
Do we punish those here for their parents sins, or reward lawbreaking with benefits that they could never have got if they didn't, encouraging more?
Its easy to post anonymously ‘Deport hem all’ but they all, including Cruz, know at the national level that it wont fly.
Senator Cruzs campaign spokeswoman Catherine Frazier told us Cruzs goal in the Gang of Eight amendment was three fold: to get Senators on the record showing where they stood on the issue, that it was a good faith effort to improve the bill, and to stop a pathway to citizenship. Frazier explained it was not intended to suggest support for legalization.
Cruz supports strengthening the border and fixing our legal immigration and interior enforcement systems before we deal with those who are here illegally, Frazier said. Its premature to discuss what to do with those who are still here illegally until we have made these reforms. Indicating that there may be the potential for amnesty in the future, only encourages more illegal immigration.
Frazier reiterated Senator Cruzs consistency on the issue, that the Senator is in favor of expanding legal immigration, and that he vocally opposes President Obamas executive immigration overreach.
While MSNBCs claim that Senator Cruz has not specifically detailed his stance on legalizing undocumented immigrants is true, the inference that he supports legalization, is false.
Cruz's goal in proposing the amendment to the 2013 Gang of Eight bill that removed the pathway to citizenship for illegals, was to flush out the duplicity of Democrats. The Democrats wanted the votes of these prospective new citizens, but could not admit it, claiming they cared for the welfare of illegals. Cruz said fine, give them status, but deny them citizenship. The Democrats were caught in their lie. I thought that it was a brilliant tactic.
Walkers position, the one he was attacked for was misrepresented by the lamestream press (surprise surprise). He did not call for a pathway to citizenship as was reported.
His position is very much like that of Ted Cruz, who suggests some sort of legal status that cannot by law ever be a stepping stone to citizenship, and that only for non-law-breakers. I would assume that would include the so-called dreamers, but few others.
This whole issue is so toxic that I think there is no coherent position that will not draw fire from some quarter.
The only thing that makes sense to me to first and foremost to get complete control of the border - all of it. Then to start sorting out whos who, and most of them need to be repatriated to wherever they came from. Either voluntarily or forcefully makes no difference to me, but it has to happen.
Indeed. It should not be hard to state a very clear position on immigration and enforcement no matter who it is.
Geez, if you were referring to me, what I posted was not an attack if it was your impression that it was. I was just pointing out your tactics were already plain to see as Rick Perry 2010 all over again. You were on and on and on about everyone else, until he stumbled so badly that you had to retreat into silence to keep from embarrassing yourself any further.
Is it important that we know what is being written? Absolutely, but most here are adults, can read, and have the ability for critical and deductive reasoning. Your selective editorializing along the way is exactly what we despise from the MSM. To me, it comes off as just another negative campaign commercial. The only thing missing is the dark morbid sound clip running in the background switching to happy little tunes when your favorite is brought up.
Let us vet them all without being a shill for another. That is all I ask because too much of the latter is just background noise that distracts, as most often it is meant to be.
To that, I will end by saying it is not becoming to be pulling your candidate’s float around town by dragging it with a D9 bulldozer.
I had some problems with Walker earlier about some very particular statements he made in an interview (to which I listened in its entirety). You and I talked back and forth about it. I set all that aside after Walker came out again and issued a new more recent position and really am not going to try and trash him on it.
For my guy Cruz, there have been very recent news about his ‘moderation of views’ and a lot of discussion back and forth about context, citations, etc. I’m not happy about work permits, but I can understand it.
We have two conservative candidates with ardent followers on both sides, and my feeling is that the coming distinctions to be made between them should be amicable and largely between the candidates as they mature in their campaigns. In EITHER case, we all should be vehemently fighting outside MSM and Democrat attacks on both and preserving the viability of both in that respect.
As for my views on illegals, I realize there are logistical problems with mass deportations. I would first advocate an insurmountable border defense that stops ALL traffic into this country, especially from Texas all the way to California.
Secondly, I support very harsh penalties for employers that hire illegals for any purpose coupled with a complete official cutoff of all entitlements available to normal citizens. I wouldnt even allow them into our court systems save that needed to punish them for violating our laws. They can exist in the shadows or go the hell home for all I care.
Lastly, I realize that it is a tough, touchy topic and I do have some compassion. I probably would be convinced to have a program to allow some to stay here on work permits with no entitlement benefits and to PAY their share of taxes.
Lastly, UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES would these people EVER be allowed to become US Citizens and vote in this country.
Well see what we see as far as candidates go.
Legal immigration as currently practiced is overwhelmingly non white, whether is is based on merit, family or ‘diversity’ it matter not as long as we have race based political groups i.e. The Hispanic Caucus. Groups that work from a position of ethnicity and race to influence and formulate laws and these laws, polices and groups by their very definition are anti-white. Why would ANY white person think that continuing or even expanding this system is a good idea?
Wifey, you are posting on FR and want the single candidate, single issue purists to be civil and treat you and your subject with dignity?
I am a Cruzer, and he is the only candidate that I have donated to during the Presidential election cycle, BUT, I like Walker and would be OK with him as our candidate.
I will try to be civil with you and your guy, but if I step over the line, slap me silly and remind me of this post.
However, there are some posters here at FR, that beg to be bitched slapped, and I will do that when they beg hard enough.
These supposed disputes are like UFO sightings. Someone heard someone say this or more accurately some lefty misquoted them and now folks on our side are claiming one of our guys said it.
Where is a VIDEO or AUDIO proof?
We know the lefties twist and contort what anyone says or does on the right. So, unless their is an actual video or audio of Cruz or Walker saying something crazy i am just going to file it away in a X file.
Either Walker or Cruz, or both together, would be far better than what we have now. Either one of them could come out in a clown suit and sing Tip Toe Through the Tulips and still be a substantially better choice than Obama.
I am (at least so far) a Cruz supporter, but am glad you posted this article, Cincinatus’s Wife.
Every candidate owes us the obligation to be straight forward and specific about their positions on immigration: 1) border control, 2) what to do with the millions of illegal invaders already here, and 3) how many more millions of immigrants they want to import to take American jobs and/or put on our various government programs.
Cruz needs to answer this as well as all the rest of the candidates.
The one candidate who has been forthcoming on this is Jebbie Arbusto. I appreciate his letting us know that he plans to continue to give our country away rather than hiding his position.
Cruz is IMO the best candidate, in the unlikely event Cruz is somehow eliminated from the race I think Walker is a decent man and an acceptable second tier candidate above all others.
I don’t trust Cruz on immigration either. He has in the past said he’s open to some kind of legalization. Believe me legalization mean citizenship the minute the Rats gain control of the government and Cruz knows this. One thing I dislike about Cruz is he is always trying to be to clever. I’ll take a straight shooter like Trump over a “clever” Cruz any day.
