POLITICO: Ted Cruz apologizes to colleagues over antics
Politico ^ | 12/16/2014 | MANU RAJU

Ted Cruz privately apologized to GOP senators Tuesday for interrupting their holiday schedules by his surprise tactics that effectively brought the Senate into session over the weekend.

According to five senators who attended Tuesday’s caucus lunch, Cruz offered the apology in unsolicited remarks, saying that he regretted if any of his colleagues’ schedules were ruined by his maneuvering. He didn’t say whether he would do something similar again, senators said.

And unlike a contentious lunch last year after GOP senators pointedly blamed Cruz for prompting the government shutdown, no sharp words were directed at the Texas freshman at Tuesday’s lunch, according to the attendees. Republicans do not expect Cruz to prevent the Senate from finishing its work promptly this week.

The comments cap a tumultuous several days for Cruz, who, along with his counterpart, Utah Sen. Mike Lee, suddenly scuttled a bipartisan deal Friday that would have prevented weekend votes in the Senate. After Lee objected to the agreement, Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) brought the Senate back into session Saturday and began to advance nearly two dozen of President Barack Obama’s stalled nominees.

Yes, we understand you like open-borders Walker.

Your open-border nonsense is tiring. He is Governor and has no say over the border at this time. He is busy doing real work for his state and actually getting real live results................that is who I want as President. We already had a big talker and he failed big time.....we don’t need another talker who can’t get a thing done. It has been done and failed....no repeats please.

It is ABSOLUTELY NOT TRUE.

He’s on Brett Baier right now kicking ass and taking names.

The Washingtonians are TERRIFIED of this guy.

This is a once in a generation mind.

They were going to pass anyway.

Why do you believe everything the praetorian press tells you?

Don't you know any better by now? Are you that slow?

Reid was not going to get them through due to time constraints but since Senator Cruz demanded weekend work, Reid had to time to get them all through. That is a fact!

Reid was bringing up those nominations one way or another. He’s just pissed he had to work over the weekend.

Just like Ayotte. Two faced snarky frauds.

To bad both the Rats and RINOs had to vote on something they didn’t want to. Socialist pigs.

Ayotte should be pissed. She had an occasion with family. If I were her, I would have skipped work that day....what could Cruz do to her? Nothing. I don’t think she should have missed her daughter’s promised event. The Senate junk can wait especially since nobody wanted that bill anyway and four other Senators didn’t show up for work that day and nothing happened to them.

B.S. Reid decides the agenda AND when they Recess!

In case you were asleep the past 5 years that’s why the 300 bills from the house never made it to the floor of the Senate.

Ayotte is a two faced fraud that stuck her supporters once she got in office and decided to play mini me to John McCrazy.

The bitch had worked 16 days since August. Tough shit for her. Who does she think she is? Royalty?

That’s the reporter’s misinterpretation. What Cruz did was to tell them he hated to do it, but that he had a good reason that transcended politics for politics’ sake.

Because he’s a good man. He didn’t issue a blanket apology. He did the right thing trying to stop the treason but can have compassion at the same time for unintended consequences.

You don’t actually believe that malarkey, do you? Reid, the guy who kept the Senate in session until after midnight Christmas Eve to push through ObamaCare, couldn’t have kept the Senate in session long enough to get these remaining nominations through without Cruz?

I don’t know what to believe anymore. When Senator Cruz and Elizabeth Warren are working together to destroy a bill, God only knows what is going on. I would not call them two peas in a pod necessarily. However they do share many of the same qualities. They both are in their first two years. They both make speeches but can’t get a thing passed. They both supported President Reagan although she turned Democratic in 1996. Who the heck knows what is going on.
