With the death of Michael Brown, the racial divide in this country has gotten worse. That is because of two diametrically opposed perspectives that permeate race relations.
The first perspective is well-known and is reinforced repeatedly by the press and television media. Many Americans are angry and frustrated because of the belief the playing field for African-Americans is not level. White privilege keeps blacks down through job discrimination; blacks are profiled by law enforcement, resulting in much higher percentages of incarceration; the schools blacks have to attend are substandard and testing is biased. The first Ebola patient in Dallas was sent home sick because he was a black man who eventually died. These inner core beliefs have been cemented through decades of media reporting.
However, the second perspective has reached an even greater proportion just below the surface but is not addressed in the media, as it is immediately labeled as racism and is slammed silent. These Americans are extremely tired of the victim scenario and see the continual demonstrations and violence associated with the death of Michael Brown as a way to pressure, override and subvert the legal system to obtain the result wanted: the incarceration and conviction of police officer Darren Wilson....

Two choices: play the victim or take responsibility for your own life. It works for blacks as well as whites.

At one time blacks quite rightly protested lynching. Now, they want to lynch a police officer. No hypocrisy there.
How so?

Black folks, starting with your leaders from Obama, the CBC, the NAACP, the Democrat Party, etc.....you are going nowhere fast!!! Gotta change your culture and your ways!!! That's generally true, but ever since the 2012 elections I've had the impression that the posters on Free Republic have fulfilled the requirements for that distinction. I've never seen such negativity, and it's really put me off the site.

The middle class keeps getting hit and not getting any breaks from the govt and they are loosing ground to the takers who are getting more and more. We can only hope that some of these will turn into Reagan-blue collar Republican’s and the voting booth.

I’m sick of the bizarre fantasy that white people are all rich.
Last night one o the Ferguson “victims” was screeching about how white people owe blacks for all we’ve “stolen” from them. He went off the rails when I asked if he wanted to trade the new Lexus posted in his timeline for my 16 year old van. I even offered to throw in my tracfone to make up for all the white privilege I’ve been soaking up over the years.
Respectfully, I thought it would go the other way, with gusto. I want to say “with violence” or “with extreme prejudice” but those terms are obviously racist.

I think it goes back a little farther than that. More like since obama was elected the racial divide in this country has gotten worse IMO.
Problem the blacks have is EVERYTIME they say they are the victim. If occasionally they would actually admit the black person was in the wrong it might help ‘em but noooooooo. Gotta always defend their race over everything else, regardless of what the facts are.
