Not all places make it ease to own guns. Also, if you have kids, it may not be too wise to put one in a drawer next to the bed. Figure probability of kid finding gun, vs. break in. Hornet spray might be good compromise.

Came here to say near the same.

A flashlight, doesn’t have to be insanely bright just very focused, in order to take away their night vision. They’ll be stumbling around and unable to see any targets.

Easier to shoot the dumb bastard if they don’t duck.

My daughter is at college and carries a spring-loaded knife at all times. She gets friction from the illegals downtown when she is walking home. I’m afraid one day she is going to kill one of them.

Fenix TK-75 flashlight.

My Fenix TK 41 ($127) Became unusable and I found that the Fenix customer service consists of a phone number to China. I am now shopping smarter for a tactical flashlight made in the USA. Live and learn.

One of the easiest and least expensive means of making home invasion much more difficult and time consuming, is both inexpensive and easy. It does so by making even ordinary doors much harder to bust in, unless you totally destroy the door.

What you need:

One to three 60d (60 penny or 6”) nails.
Metal tube sheaths, 1 per nail, about 3” length, a little wider than the nail.
Concrete drill bit slightly wider than sheaths.
Strong metal/concrete glue.
Dustoff or spray can air.

Drill from 1 to 3 holes in the concrete in front of the door that swings in. Use the dustoff to blow any sand out of the hole(s). Test to make sure the sheaths can fit in each hole. Then glue each sheath into a hole.

Once the glue is dried, and the door is shut, drop a nail into each sheath. That door will be very hard to bust open, giving you much more time to recover your firearm.

Surefire lights, good enough for the military, good enough for me. Check’em out. http://www.amazon.com/s/?ie=UTF8&keywords=surefire+flashlights&tag=mh0b-20&index=sporting&hvadid=3520049231&ref=pd_sl_1aifj58smq_e

I have a surefire and it is a fine light. The only problem is it goes through those expensive Cr123A batteries really fast.

Good lights, but overpriced and not cutting edge.

<< A good dog is one of the best things, especially an intelligent one.>>

Sorry, I would never put my dogs in harms way :-(

I also recommend against the pulsing light. When I took one night shooting class another student had a pulsing light. It affected the vision of the shooter and everyone behind and next to the shooter. Heck it messed up everyone’s vision on the range. Not something I would want to use in my house.

be sure to defecate yourself and cry profusely while begging for your life and leniency.”
= = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

Sans the defecation part, I have commented that if the SHTF indoors and I fall down begging and crying I am just getting my piece and trying to survey the situation.

Also the ‘fake’ heart attack works....

At my age, I can get away with both.... <: <: <:

I have a beautiful finger touch safe on the nightstand on my side of the bed. There is a .357 and a .45 in there. It takes me between 4 and 6 seconds to be armed from a dead sleep depending on my position in the bed.

Hornet spray IS NOT very affective. It tastes real bad and stinks pretty good. If you do hit their eyes, it might be affective. But it doesn't burn your skin, throat, nose and lungs like a good pepper spray. I encourage you to test it indirectly. Ever spray hornet spray above you and/or into the wind? Try it. Now try the same thing with a good pepper spray. Then decide if the advice here is any good.

Since he’s NYPD, he can’t recommend a gun, because they’re illegal in NYC for all the but political overclass and their flunkies. You can be damned sure Zeins doesn’t depend on wasp spray in his bedroom.
