Bush Backs Amendment Banning Gay Marriage President Says States Could Rule on Civil Unions
I think clearly it was a political calculation. He couldn’t come out and say he was for gay marriage then. He was flew under the radar by backing civil unions and packing his cabinets with gay marriage proponents.
“Barbara Pierce Bush, is registered to vote in Texas and is not affiliated with any political party...”
Good Lord. . .in Texas you CAN’T register as a member of a political party.
In Texas you can be a republican but your voter registration will not reflect that.
Sheesh. . .
And given the fact that in Texas you CAN”T register as a member of a political party, that means she is not a ‘registered republican’ (or democrat or whatever), so that is a non-issue being warped by the ‘reporter’ to try and make it an issue.

One is a registered Republican in TX if he voted in either the March 4 primary or the May runoff election. Otherwise, he is nonaffiliated, presuming he did not vote in a Democrat primary.
Some precincts stamp one’s voter registration card by the primary he voted in; others don’t. None can if one doesn’t take his card with him to vote.

The Booshies are all Liberals. Surprise, not.
Correct, that is true. . .but the next election cycle you may choose to vote in the other primary, meaning in Texas you have no party registration.
Oh, and not ‘registered’ as a republican, just noted that the person voted in that parties primary. No allegiance at all.
No, TX considers one a “Republican” if he votes in either the primary or the runoff election every two years. That designation is good for two years. Then, if he skips the primaries the following cycle, he is “unaffiliated” for two more years, etc.
I seem to recall that Reagan originally wanted someone else for his running mate and somehow the RINO was foisted upon him.
