I worked for him '83-'85! Quirky, but brilliant. He believed in the cause, not politics and hero-worship. And, as corny as his fundraising was, Richard Vigurie was also a bright conservative who put conscience over career.

Weasels like David Gergen are still floating around DC as "respected". But he is a hack. Howard Phillips was pretty obscure, and probably didn't have Gergen's $$$. But, he kept his soul.
