Sen. Ted Cruz Triumphs in 2016 Presidential Straw Poll: Wins Early GOP Vote Over Walker, Paul

Sen. Ted Cruz hasn’t said whether he has presidential ambitions, but Sunday he won one of the first straw polls for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination.

The Texas Republican captured 45 percent of the 504 votes cast by attendees at the Western Conservative Summit, a day after drawing several standing ovations during his luncheon speech at the fourth annual conference.

“We shall see what sort of crystal ball summiteers have in awarding that decisive nod to Sen. Ted Cruz, who was so magnificent from this platform,” said John Andrews, founder of the Centennial Institute at Colorado Christian University, which hosted the event.

Placing second was Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, who delivered the keynote address Friday at the three-day summit, with 13 percent of the vote.

Tied for third were Sen. Rand Paul, Kentucky Republican, and former Rep. Allen B. West, Florida Republican, with 9 percent each. Mr. West was the conference’s featured speaker Sunday, while Mr. Paul received the most votes among those on the ballot who didn’t attend the conference.

This can’t be true. Why just the other day I was hearing the lame stream media crowing about Chris Christie being the nominee.

I will NOT vote for another phony conservative. RINOS be damned!

Go Cruz!

I don’t understand all of this hubub about Cruz’ citizenship. Hello! We have a Kenyan/Indonesian in the White House, and it wasn’t like McLame was really born here either. In the end, it will likely come down to a senate permission slip, which they would give to him out of courtesy.

That being said, Cruz is an excellent champion for liberty and the American way. His debate skill would also come in handy against a shrill Killery, a grinning Plugs, or a Sitting Bull.

Cruz Control!

It really doesn’t matter at this point. If states are going to allow him on the ballot, then he can be President.

Until Obama is removed from “office” and all acts of his “administration” are nullified, I am supporting the Republican I think will govern the most justly and wisely, regardless of his NBC status.

-"Will those who desire to stop him say he is not fulfill the requirements as Natural Born Citizen......"

The way I look at this, is that anyone who believes this, has either two choices, either they don't vote for him, or they vote for him.

The only one to be able to stop him is the Supreme Court, by taking a case directly, defining, and ruling on the 'Constitutional' interpretation for being a "Natural Born" citizen.

It's as simple as that!

This issue, whether we like it or not, has already 'crossed the Rubicon' with the election of Barack Hussein Obama.

You are on the lunatic fringe.
NOBODY with any authority at law, agrees with you.
Cruz is QUALIFIED to be President.

The Courts are given very little jurisdiction over these matters, by the Constitution.
Strange that the same idiots who claim to be “Constitutional Purists” can not point to any place in the Constitution where the Courts are given the power to disqualify a Candidate for President. That Power is given to the States and to the Electors and to Congress.
Cruz is Qualified.
I want Cruz to run for many reasons, not the least of which is that I can't stand these idiot birthers who think they own the Constitution and the English language and the Law, all by themselves!

You do not understand the law if you ask such questions.
Natural Born Citizen means CITIZEN AT BIRTH and nothing else. Cruz was a Citizen at the moment of his birth. That is all that is required.

Cruz was a citizen of the United States at the moment of birth.
That is ALL that is required for Cruz to be President.
You have NO legal authority on your side who disagrees with me on that point.

>>To bad but the fact is Ted Cruz is just a U.S. Citizen. He is not a Constitutional U.S. natural born Citizen as required by Article 2 Section 1, the presidential clause.<<

Damnit! I was hoping for other, but Cruz was born in Canada of at least one non-USA parent (his dad, who didn’t become a citizen until 2005).

He doesn’t have the fig leaf of a fake birth thousands of miles from his real birth like the first kenyan.

Cruz suffers from a Conservative illness: telling the truth.

Nonsense!
Cruz is a Natural Born Citizen.
Cruz was NOT “Naturalized” and Cruz was a Citizen from the moment of his birth.
You are spouting tin foil hat nonsense with no valid legal authority on your side.

>>Where was Cruz born, or his parents born?<<

He was born in Canada. His dad was born in Cuba and his mom in Delaware.

IMHO, that makes him the same as the first kenyan, who, had he not lied, would not have been eligible.

Unless we are pressing for ONE USA parent as sufficient for Natural Born Citizen.
