Spin from the BBC about Darwin (devoted to absolving Darwinism from revolutionary evolutionism)
CMI ^ | October 22, 2009 | Russell Grigg

The British Broadcasting Corporation in England has deemed it necessary to try and absolve Darwinism from any responsibility for the Holocaust and the many other atrocities committed in the name of evolutionary progress ever since Darwin published his Origin of Species in 1859. To achieve this, BBC2 produced a TV “documentary” entitled Darwin’s Dangerous Idea,[1] written and presented by their journalist and political commentator Andrew Marr. This 3-part series...

Thats cool. I tried learning some basic object oriented programming, but I never got the hang of libraries and compilers. I grew up with computers in the old days of BASIC and such. You just type in the line and it carries out the command. I guess I got used to that style of programming.

I am a first year medical student.

The BBC aren't the only ones who dispute the idea that Darwin's theory was responsible for the Holocaust.

ADL Blasts Christian Supremacist TV Special & Book Blaming Darwin For Hitler

New York, NY, August 22, 2006 … The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) today blasted a television documentary produced by Christian broadcaster Dr. D. James Kennedy's Coral Ridge Ministries that attempts to link Charles Darwin's theory of evolution to Adolf Hitler and the atrocities of the Holocaust. ADL also denounced Coral Ridge Ministries for misleading Dr. Francis Collins, the director of the National Human Genome Research Institute for the NIH, and wrongfully using him as part of its twisted documentary, "Darwin's Deadly Legacy."

After being contacted by the ADL about his name being used to promote Kennedy's project, Dr. Collins said he is "absolutely appalled by what Coral Ridge Ministries is doing. I had NO knowledge that Coral Ridge Ministries was planning a TV special on Darwin and Hitler, and I find the thesis of Dr. Kennedy's program utterly misguided and inflammatory," he told ADL.

ADL National Director Abraham H. Foxman said in a statement:"This is an outrageous and shoddy attempt by D. James Kennedy to trivialize the horrors of the Holocaust. Hitler did not need Darwin to devise his heinous plan to exterminate the Jewish people. Trivializing the Holocaust comes from either ignorance at best or, at worst, a mendacious attempt to score political points in the culture war on the backs of six million Jewish victims and others who died at the hands of the Nazis...

Nothing like the hard-leftist ADL to come to the rescue of the enemies of Western Civilization.

Don’t bother posting to Gutless. He only responds to a very, very select flavor of Christians (the only variety that has it quite right, you see), so any post about people who aren’t Christians at all is probably beneath his notice and therefore of no interest to him.

If you truly believe that mankind was a special creation made in the image of God, why are you treating us like garbage?

"Us" would be anyone you treat like garbage, Gutless.

That is to say, anyone not toadying to your version of your religion whenever and where ever you demand obeisance.

It would appear that gumlegs is projecting what causes HIS legs to go all gummy onto his betters—read: the slightest danger, real (but almost always) imagined. Don’t worry gummy, no matter what anyone else says about you, I never expected you to be anything more than your usual fidgety, fearful, shadow-loving self.

Just wondering, what does your version of the New Testament say about how to treat others? I can't find anything in my version to support your treatment of others who may disagree with you.

As a reminder this is an excerpt from a statement I posted to FR's home page several years ago and it's still true:
"As a conservative site, Free Republic is pro-God, pro-life, pro-family, pro-Constitution, pro-Bill of Rights, pro-gun, pro-limited government, pro-private property rights, pro-limited taxes, pro-capitalism, pro-national defense, pro-freedom, and-pro America. We oppose all forms of liberalism, socialism, fascism, pacifism, totalitarianism, anarchism, government enforced atheism, abortionism, feminism, homosexualism, racism, wacko environmentalism, judicial activism, etc. We also oppose the United Nations or any other world government body that may attempt to impose its will or rule over our sovereign nation and sovereign people. We believe in defending our borders, our constitution and our national sovereignty.

Free Republic is private property. It is not a government project, nor is it funded by government or taxpayer money. We are not a publicly owned entity nor are we an IRS tax-free non-profit organization. We pay all applicable taxes on our income. We are not connected to or funded by any political party, news agency, or any other entity. We sell no merchandise, product or service, and we offer no subscriptions or paid memberships. We accept no paid advertising or promotions. We are funded solely by donations (non tax deductible gifts) from our readers and participants.

We aggressively defend our God-given and first amendment guaranteed rights to free speech, free press, free religion, and freedom of association, as well as our constitutional right to control the use and content of our own personal private property. Despite the wailing of the liberal trolls and other doom & gloom naysayers, we feel no compelling need to allow them a platform to promote their repugnant and obnoxious propaganda from our forum. Free Republic is not a liberal debating society. We are conservative activists dedicated to defending our rights, defending our constitution, defending our republic and defending our traditional American way of life.

Our God-given liberty and freedoms are not negotiable."

Just so there is absolutely no doubt in the question of bias, when it comes down to evolutionists or atheism vs believers or creationism, I’m with God all the way. Don’t care if they think I’m biased or unfair. This site is pro-God, pro-Creator, pro-life, pro-family, pro-liberty, pro-traditional American values. Those who can't live with a pro-God bias don’t have to hang around. And those who hang around just to poke sticks at or pick fights with us knuckle-dragging bible thumpers shouldn't be surprised when their posting privileges get pulled.

Troll zotting is my specialty.

DONT TREAD ON ME!

Thanks,

Jim

So please, find us a published version of evolutionary theory that was present before Marx wrote The Communist Manifesto.

???? You mean like grandfather Erasmus Darwin's writings, or Lamarck's, or some of the ancient greeks for that matter? About the only significant thing original to Darwin IMO was his inclusion of Blythe's natural selection theory into the evolutionary paradigm. His grandfather had all the other key points down.

That quote, incidentally, does nothing to deny Hitler’s belief in evolutionism after his polytheistic creation event. He quite clearly believed in some ‘races’ being superior to others, and in competition between them and the destruction of the lesser by the greater in a great struggle as each evolved.

"You and I will never be on the same page."

Well, that's your decision, not my desire.

"You look only to scripture (sola scriptura?) for guidance whereas I believe that Scripture AND the Holy Spirit guide us."

So, you think yourself qualified to pronounce what I believe and what I don't? Interesting. You actually have no idea what I believe. To say that I look only to Scripture is to deny that I interpret Scripture through the Holy Spirit; in complete agreement with Scripture. You are simply wrong.

What I believe is:

1 John 2:27 - "As for you, the anointing you received from him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things and as that anointing is real, not counterfeit—just as it has taught you, remain in him."

and

2 Timothy 3:16-17 - "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work."

Again, Scripture interprets Scripture through the Holy Spirit. Not, the Holy Spirit confirms man's desire to throw out those parts of God's Word that man doesn't like or understand. It appears that you are not very well grounded in Scripture. How then can you sit in judgment of it?

"I believe that the Holy Spirit speaks directly to each of those that have accepted Christ and uses the gifts of reason and the knowledge of the difference between good and evil (Original Sin)."

You think sin is a gift? Doesn't Scripture teach that sin is a curse?

"You are of course free to choose your own path, but I will not shut my heart to the Holy Spirit of open it to evil in the guise of God."

Are you not free to choose our own path as well? Do you commit the fallacy of the false dilemma in implying that the only options that exist are your perception of my path and your own?

You do realize that the question that led to original sin was, "Did God really say?" and the assumption was "No he did not", leading to the fall. You simply listen to the same misrepresentation, make the same error, and fall in the same way.

You do not understand the lesson of Job's friends, do you? What did they say about God? They said, "God would not allow an innocent man to suffer, Job. Therefore you must have sinned." What did God say? God said, "I am angry with you and your two friends, because you have not spoken of me what is right, as my servant Job has."

What did Job say? Job said, "Surely I spoke of things I did not understand, things too wonderful for me to know." In effect, Job admitted that he didn't know what he was talking about in questioning God's decision to let him suffer. You do the same thing, sitting in judgment on God's decisions when you don't know what you are talking about.

Of course, we know that Job was a type of Christ and that God would allow 'the innocent man to suffer' (Jesus Christ). Not only Christ, but the redeemed as well. I Peter 4:12-13, "Dear friends, do not be surprised at the painful trial you are suffering, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice that you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed."

You are in the unfortunate position of Job's friends, saying things about God that are not true. You have chosen the path of throwing out those parts of Scripture that do not conform to man's opinion. The Holy Spirit only confirms God's Word, He never denies it. That is Satan's job.

If you open your heart to ideas that are not found in Scripture, you can justify any behavior at all. This is what happened in the Garden. Eve opened her heart to the idea that she would not die if she disobeyed God's word. She was wrong.

"Pax Vobiscum."

etiam tecum

I would disagree with you on your analogy as to the first clause of the second amendment not meaning what it says. The problem with the first clause of the 2nd amendment is not it’s plain English meaning but rather that it gives sophists some wiggle room to build a deceptive argument around.

In any case your point is that I am not understanding Darwin’s meaning on that phrase (in regards to “favored races”. I’m not closed minded to that possibility so please educate me on the meaning.

FWIW I’m marginally invested in the evolution debate at best...I do think that Darwinism arrives at conclusions that require a materialist philosophy as a starting point (rather then being some sort of evidence for materialism). That the species that existed on the earth changed over time I think is well supported by the fossil record and that natural selection occurs is supported by observation, however I think that idea that speciation is caused by natural selection of “random” mutations is not supported without a philisophical bias.

In the bigger picture I think it’s irrelevant to the question (that most people involved are concerned with, that is) in regards to the existance of a transcendent Creator. I think there are more important scientific and philisophical areas to explore in regards to this question (such as the Big Bang theory as well as the Hard Problem of Consciousness in philosophy).

At any rate I do believe it is clear that the eugenics movement was inspired by “enlightenment” thinking and materialist philosophy with Darwin’s theory being no small part of that.

If I have in fact misunderstood Darwin’s meaning then it appears that the eugenecists did as well. So what was the meaning?
