what do I do?

I recently recieved a welcome letter from my daughter's teacher. My daughter is going into kindergarden at a catholic school. The letter included the phrase "learning how to help save the planet" which of course means global warming. My wife and I believe that global warming is a hoax built on junk science.

I don't want my daughter brainwashed by this liberal bullcrap. what should I do?

Context, NE. Years of ridiculous, vitriolic context.

Perhaps point out to her teacher’s that the Envirowacko Movement is an “Earth worshiping” alternative religion which would like to replace Christianity while promoting Socialism and Marxism, which are very much enemies of the Catholic Church.

The teacher’s have been brainwashed. There’s a reason Moses threw down the original tablets when he saw the Israelites worshiping idols.

The Earth has become an idol.

First, I'd ask what the basis of the teacher is making her claim.
Second, I would ask if the teacher has looked at all the dissention that is going on in the scientific community about Global Warming.
Third, I would ask if the teacher is going to TEACH all views, not just their personnal preference.
Fourth. I would ask the administration, local and Archdiosece if this is THEIR position.

If none of the answers are to you satisfaction I would be making a lot of calls to the Archbishop's office and the school administration about putting an end to this.

Not everyone can home-school their children. A more conservative-oriented Christian private school might be the answer.

On the other hand, if you like everything else about the Catholic school except their stand on one or two issues, then I would recommend teaching your child what you want her to know about the “global climate crisis” (and other issues) at home, and explaining to her that she might hear different things at school about this but that on THIS issue you and your wife are correct and the school is not.

There are diplomatic ways to tell your child that someone else is full of sh!t on a given issue without coming right out and saying it, and children ARE capable of understanding this. Besides, she’s gotta find out sooner or later.

If the school is intellectually honest, perhaps they will even let you prepare and present to her class a short program giving the the other side of the issue.

No offense, but I think if you have to ask then the problems don't end with the teacher/school.

I'm half convinced this is a troll post.

“taking care of the earth God gave us” is the very angle the Envirowackos are using to gain control of our youth’s impressionable minds.

What about good old-fashioned “conservation?”

earning how to help save the planet" which of course means global warming.

Not necessarily. I would ask specifically what they mean by this and how this is integrated into the curriculum before making any decisions to switch schools.

Serious solution--

Talk with your child before school starts, and every day during school, and explain the controversy over Global Warming. Explain what she will be taught and why you think differently.

Teach her and prepare her before they get to her. Sending her in there unprepared is not acceptable. Sending her in there well prepared is not only acceptable, but encouraged. If she learns to ask the right questions, she may be able to get the teacher to think as well.

Be prepared to accept lower grades, though.

Best ideas presented on this thread are basically the "confront them first" and then react to their response.

Never back down from the left, Never.

Back them up and shame them if you must with facts, figures, and logic.

If you have any type of leverage, i.e. Principal, Superintendent, school board, use them.

If that does not work, find a better school.

If there are no better schools, make the necessary sacrifices and home-school.

Remember, this is your child whom God has blessed you with and given you the responsibility to raise in a God-fearing manner.

Nothing is too important to give up to make sure they are not harmed by the indoctrination and propaganda of the left.

I don’t see where sending your child to a public school is going to rid her/you of any less propoganda than the Catholic church; in fact, IMO the Catholic church will teach your child better skills academically and in discipline.

IMO, if you don’t home school you’re between a rock and a hard place...you’ll have to put up with this propoganda...and might as well teach your child at a very early age to be discerning and selective about the information he/she receives.

Which means you could teach him/her now what is true information and what is bs.

You might also let her teacher know that, while you agree with keeping our world clean, you think global warming is a bunch of bunk, and suggest that the teacher be considerate of those families who believe global warming to be hype.

And if you want to spend the time, you might give the teacher some facts on why global warming isn’t so, including the fact that only 15% of scientists in this world believe in global warming.

Well then your options are rather limited unless you want every parent in your child’s class to have a say in what is not taught to the class.

It doesn’t matter what school you send your child to, they all teach from the same lesson plan on environmental issues.

My daughter is going into 6th grade (in a Catholic School) and has been getting the environmental message each year. Don’t sweat it. It’s a lot like the Earth Day/Give A Hoot, Don’t Pollute message we got when we were in school.

My daughter already knows Global Warming is a hoax but I’ve told her if the subject comes up in a quiz, to write down whatever the teacher said.

If your child becomes more trusting of someone other than his/her parents, you’ve got other issues to worry about!

Nope. Demand that they shut off all lights, A/C and Heat to “save the planet”. Also, all teachers must ride in the same VW Vanagon powered by vegetable oil. If these are not done, then they are just talkin’ ragtime and they should not teach what they won’t do themselves!

Guess you were not around in the early 80’s when the similar like minded liberal teachers were scaring the children to death about nuclear war after Reagan sent new generations of Nukes to Europe. Kids were being diagnosed with psychosis and were actually thinking the end was here and they were going to die - kids in grade school for God's sake!

It was the left’s way of getting to the parents just like with McDonald's by using kids meals.

I and another father had a fun way of handling it - right in their face - you don't teach this to my child EVER or it's law suit city!

Worse comes to worst; put you child in a good school.

I remember I thought the local Catholic school might be good for my son but thankfully I did not need them; lated the priest was found to have been molesting the boys.

Vote with your feet!
