I have spent a great deal of time today on the various conservative blogs, reading up on how John McCain's vote is "the deathknell" of his campaign. I have read on various conservative blogs that Sarah Palin supposedly has no chance because the deck is stacked against her, whether from the "Ifill Tower" or the "Couric Courant". I have read the reactions of people who are willing to hold back their votes, all because John McCain voted for a bailout bill. I have becomed sickened by what I have seen in recent days, not only from those on the left...

CAMP KOREAN VILLAGE — Reserve U.S. Marines delivered food supplies for economically disadvantaged families in Rutbah, a town of about 17,000 residents in western al-Anbar province, Sept. 24. According to Navy chaplain Lt. Ray Rivers, these Marines created “Operation Widow” in June to provide non-perishable food items, fresh fruit, milk and juice to widows and their families in Rutbah. “This has definitely improved relations between the Coalition forces and the Iraqis,” said Rivers, a native of Sumter, S.C., who was a Marine Corps infantry officer for seven years before going back to school for a master’s degree in divinity in...

Any ideas why the Views: stat is missing? I like the stat so I can see when a topic has had a lot of FR interest even if replies aren't high. I checked computers in 3 locations and none of them showed views. I did a search for "views" and find 1 posting from 3/05 about Views - it vanished before and may not be a universal problem. Also, tried clicking on "Activity" as someone there indicated and some threads have views and others don't.

This is the time of the year when I feel compelled to make a statement in every way available to me: t-shirts, bumper stickers... After having heard so many unusual ring tones, I figured my cell phone was next as a way to make a statement. I googled "ring tones" and I was amazed at the mind bogling number of choices. However, since I would have to log in to an unknown web site and give my cell phone number, I cooled my quest for a ring tone. As usual, when I do not know the answer to something, I...

The Netherlands will be forced to spend about $170 billion to extend and strengthen its dykes to protect the country from rising sea levels. A committee charged with investigating the future effects of global warming on the Netherlands delivered its findings overnight. It found that the country, nearly two-thirds of which lies below sea level, must spend up to $2 billion per year over the next century on additional safety measures if it is to survive the ravages of rising sea levels. Large-scale work will be needed to extend and strengthen dykes. The report was written by the Delta commission...

I need help with getting Quickbooks to print a specific type of report. I want an entire fiscal year expense report, just the totals, by categories of expenses, not by vendor. I've been able to get expenses broken down by vendor totals, but then I still have to go to some other software like Microsoft spreadsheets to re-enter my data. I've searched the quickbooks site and can't find the answer. I use Quickbooks Pro 2007. Thanks in advance.

Investigators are hoping you might be able to point them in the right direction as they search for who is responsible for a shooting that left the Houston Police Department's first Hispanic female officer wounded. 78-year-old Velia Ortega was visiting family members at the Plum Creek Apartments at 6969 South Loop East Monday afternoon, when she was wounded by the gunfire. Investigators say they want to question 17-year-old Bruno Aviles and 20-year-old Andrew Garcia in connection with the shooting. Authorities believe the pair may have been involved in a dispute over a vehicle with members of Ortega's family.

I live in an area which is not served by cable TV companies. That has limited the Internet access choices to either dial-up or sattelite. I currently have both, using dial-up on my MacOS9 and Hughesnet on the PCs. I have learned that DSL has suddenly been extended to my area by Verizon. Hughesnet is costing roughly $90.00/month for less than satisfactory service because of their "Fair Access Policy" and because towering thunderheads frequently block the sattelite signal. I'm going to order a Dell laptop Latitude computer. The specs say: 2.0GB, DDR2-667 SDRAM, 2 DIMMS [Included in Price] Now, "DIMM" is "Dual Inline Memory Module," right? That means it has two sockets for the memory strips? But it offers, as a $30 option, 2 GB memory with 1 DIMM. I thought DIMM required memory be installed in pairs. Why is this better? thanx
