Will FR embrace socialism to make way for Rudy Giuliani as a Republican presidential candidate?
vanity | April 21, 2007 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 04/21/2007 6:42:25 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

We've got some real challenges facing us. FR was established to fight against government corruption, overstepping, and abuse and to fight for a return to the limited constitutional government as envisioned and set forth by our founding fathers in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution and other founding documents.

One of the biggest cases of government corruption, overstepping and abuse that I know of is its disgraceful headlong slide into a socialist hell. Our founders never intended for abortion to be the law of the land. And they never intended the Supreme Court to be a legislative body. They never intended God or religion to be written out of public life. They never intended government to be used to deny God's existence or for government to be used to force sexual perversions onto our society or into our children's education curriculum. They never intend for government to disarm the people. They never intended for government to set up sanctuary cities for illegals. They never intended government to “rule” over the people and or to take their earnings or private property or to deprive them of their constitutional rights to free speech, free religion, private property, due process, etc. They never intended government to seize the private property of private citizens through draconian asset forfeiture laws or laws allowing government to take private property from lawful owners to give to developers. Or to seize wealth and redistribute it to others. Or to provide government forced health insurance or government forced retirement systems.

All of the above are examples of ever expanding socialism and tyranny brought to us by liberals/liberalism.

FR fights against the liberals/Democrats in all of these areas and always will. Now if liberalism infiltrates into the Republican party and Republicans start promoting all this socialist garbage, do you think that I or FR will suddenly stop fighting against it? Do you think I'm going to bow down and accept abortionism, feminism, homosexualism, global warming, illegal alien lawbreakers, gun control, asset forfeiture, socialism, tyranny, totalitarianism, etc, etc, etc, just so some fancy New York liberal lawyer can become president from the Republican party?

Do you really expect me to do that?

The lesson to be learned here is when you make a gaffe, the last thing you should do is go on an apology tour. That pretty much seals your fate. Apologize once or twice to the recipient of the gaffe(and no one else) and then go on the offensive if the attacks persist.

Read today’s threads. Far more concern about guns than abortion. Read this week’s threads. The same. You are creating a straw man. Abortion is one issue. Giuliani agrees with the conservative wing of this party on next to nothing.

You are promoting a liberal’s liberal. He’s an east coast metrosexual cross dresser. Oly Snowe is probably more of a conservative than your friend, Rudy. The only way I want him inside the White House is taking the tour with other civilians.

I don’t need to bring up abortion, and I can spend the rest of the day telling you why Giuliani is the pits.

I support McClintock until the last minute when it became painfully obvious he didn't have the support of the voters. Then, as a dutiful broken glass Republican, I pulled the lever for Arnie. Fat lot of good it did me. Broken glass Republican no more. Tired of crawling on bloodied stumps.

Like it or not, the candidates preferred by this board — Fred Thompson, Newt Gingrich, Duncan Hunter, et al — are certain losers.

If Reagan can win 49 states, why can't Fred?

do you forfeit your duty and honor and stay home instead of voting, thus clearing the path for a marxist

I don't think claiming Jim would forfeit his duty and honor if he refuses to vote for Rudy is a good idea, or a fair statement. The man has earned the right to not vote for people he finds offensive to his principles, and you have not earned the right to question his commitment to duty and honor.

Frankly, I'm surprised you survived.

“Well, if Jim wants this to be a “Rudy-free-site” or an “anti-Rudy-site” - he should state that policy and apply it.”

If you had been reading any of his threads then you would know that he HAS stated that policy, and IS applying it.

It’s been the stated policy of FR from the beginning.

CONSERVATISM!! period!

Exhibit A of what constitutes intelligent conversation these days.

“You’re delusional. Rudy doesn’t go to the right even 10% of the time.”

So I must conclude that for you, national security-going against islamofascism is below 10 percent?

Personally, I think this country just may have to burn before it gets better:

Yeah, it's always good strategy to let your enemies win by walking of the field. Then they get to set the rules for next time around. Oh Wait! Look whose in control of the Senate and House now.

Bottom line, Rudy is a survivable presidency for the US. A democrat with a probable demcrat house and senate is not.

If Rudy wins the primary, then you must support him.

If Rudy wins the primary, and you support the democrat or an unelectable 3rd party, then I am out of here and probably more than just me because we love the US, and opposing Rudy after the primary is supporting the destruction of the US as we know it.

Jim,

You and your compatriots on this site have done a lot to effect the political process in this country for good. I’m truly grateful to you for that.

Stick to your guns, pray for God’s help and don’t back down.

Not now. Not ever.

Jim, I agree with you that a president's policies are the most important thing. I'm watching this nomination process as a bystander so far, not a committed supporter of one candidate.

First off I observe Rudy running ahaead of the others in opinion polls of REPUBLICANS right now. Unless someone else beats him among republicans he will get nominated. Personally, I would prefer to see Thompson win but he might not.

IF Rudy is nominated, allowing a Hilary or Obama to win, possibly with a dem Congress, is national suicide. You will get pure pro abortion, etc policies PLUS no sensible war on terror.

So if Rudy gets nominated I will vote for him. For the war, also because he promises to nominate conservative judges. And a reason seldom mentioned: He is strong against crime. Turning the US Attorneys over to Hilary would be a disaster. I'm not pushing Rudy, just explaining why I would vote for him IF it is Hilary vs. Rudy. But I admit that for conservatives it is very strange to see Rudy running strong in republican polls.

Fred would have a decent chance in the general election - Hilary and Obama are not strong candidates - which is why I strongly suspect Edwards gets the nomination.

Gingrich, Hunter, et. al. wouldn’t have the slightest chance.

I just posted this but earlier I’ll move it to a more current thread

I don’t think it will be one of the dim leaders. I think it’s becoming clear that hillaries negatives are too high and the electorate won’t go for a lightweight like Obama.
Look for Gore to step in later this summer. “for the good of the party”. He will be able to unify the moonbat wing and the rank and file....the whole dim party. Also there will be no Nader. Remember he already won the poler vote acting like like a 2nd grade teacher. I watched 10 minutes of his movie last nite and though I disagree with it I was impressed how warm and polished he came off. He’s a LOT BETTER then he was in 2000.
He’s gonna be really tough to beat. I’m not sure Rudy...Thompson..or Romney can beat him. As for the rest of the Repub nominees....forgetaboutit.

I like all three of our guys.

What worries me about Romney is that he’s too slick by a half but I’m open.....

What worries me about Thompson (if he runs} does he have the fire to take on Gore? Also does he have the temperament to take on his own party? I worry that he could be another W. Say all the right things but be too much of a “good ol boy” and not be enough of a an asskicker to really slap around his former senate colleagues regarding earmarks...entitlement reform...tax reform...energy policy...the border...tort reform all the things that W with all three branches of government failed miserably on.
Though I’m also open.

Rudy does have that temperament. He slapped around the establishment in NYCity and it’s in his nature to do it again in Washington. I’m not worried about Rudy on the border the chaos down there should inflame his law and order sensibilities and I think he would clamp down. Currently he is the only one talking about are insane tax code and considering a flat tax....wonderful. He also brings up vouchers...great. He also talks about drilling in the gulf when all the other pols are worring about losing FLA...more great

That leaves guns and abortion that is judges. Rudy knows that to accomplish cleaning up our fiscal mess and waging war on our Islamic enemies not to mention holding off the dims and the MSM he will need the base including the socons firmly in his camp. I would expect him to give on those....

If he tried to pull something like nominating a Souter it would ignite a firestorm that would make the Miers pick look like nothing. He is not stupid enough to take on his own base when his plate will already be full.

If someone would like to discuss this with me instead of spamming me or insulting me I’d like that.
