Will FR embrace socialism to make way for Rudy Giuliani as a Republican presidential candidate?
vanity | April 21, 2007 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 04/21/2007 6:42:25 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

We've got some real challenges facing us. FR was established to fight against government corruption, overstepping, and abuse and to fight for a return to the limited constitutional government as envisioned and set forth by our founding fathers in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution and other founding documents.

One of the biggest cases of government corruption, overstepping and abuse that I know of is its disgraceful headlong slide into a socialist hell. Our founders never intended for abortion to be the law of the land. And they never intended the Supreme Court to be a legislative body. They never intended God or religion to be written out of public life. They never intended government to be used to deny God's existence or for government to be used to force sexual perversions onto our society or into our children's education curriculum. They never intend for government to disarm the people. They never intended for government to set up sanctuary cities for illegals. They never intended government to “rule” over the people and or to take their earnings or private property or to deprive them of their constitutional rights to free speech, free religion, private property, due process, etc. They never intended government to seize the private property of private citizens through draconian asset forfeiture laws or laws allowing government to take private property from lawful owners to give to developers. Or to seize wealth and redistribute it to others. Or to provide government forced health insurance or government forced retirement systems.

All of the above are examples of ever expanding socialism and tyranny brought to us by liberals/liberalism.

FR fights against the liberals/Democrats in all of these areas and always will. Now if liberalism infiltrates into the Republican party and Republicans start promoting all this socialist garbage, do you think that I or FR will suddenly stop fighting against it? Do you think I'm going to bow down and accept abortionism, feminism, homosexualism, global warming, illegal alien lawbreakers, gun control, asset forfeiture, socialism, tyranny, totalitarianism, etc, etc, etc, just so some fancy New York liberal lawyer can become president from the Republican party?

Do you really expect me to do that?

He’s clearly not outta here just because you said so. McCain is outta here in my book, but he just got a half hour on Fox News Sunday today, so I think that won’t sink his campaign.

So he’s not really outta here.

What is so scary about debating Rudy’s merits or lack thereof with his supporters? I just don’t get it.

It’s April and that seems like plenty of time to make the case that he’s unfit for office. Maybe in October, say “dammit, Rudy will kill the Republic. No more talking good about him.” Something like that.

I’m not even sure I’d support that, but at least you would have had a few months of people debating opinions and facts.

I understand why you want to knock Rudy off early, but this forum won’t do it. Not by itself. What has happened is that we’ve knocked off a lot of people here who have been on our side for a long time. I’m not sure who that helps.

I looked at the mission statement of WA. Nowhere do I see that it's a anti-Freeper site. Why do you say that it is?

Because it’s an anti-freeper site, not an anti-this-thread site. There were other anti-freeper sites before this thread too. LOL

Yeah LOL! You didn't answer the question.

Lots of folks have either been banned, resigned in protest, or quietly walked away.

Yes. Anyway, like somebody said on Friday, I can't wait for the primaries. :) Then we can stop eating each other alive. :)

Only a year or so to go. :(

'night all.

Disingenuousness doesn’t become you. “Hot-troll-on-troll action” refering to two women is not innocuous, and you know it.

You did. That's how you first came to my attention. And secured my contempt.

But let's be crystal clear now: are the Minuteman "vigilanties" in your opinion? Yes, or no.

I don’t care how much people hated other people. What I cared about was the reference to a lesbian relationship. It was inappropriate and futhermore was, indeed vulgar.

The only reference I've seen on this thread about that was when I was called a lesbian by one of Rudy's supporters. I don't recall you objecting. Of course, in 15,000 posts, maybe I missed it.

If you remember correctly, it was your side that had the "glee" in the actual killing of Terri Schiavo.

If you're willing to lie about my position in the Schiavo matter, what else are you willing to lie about?

Best to you to, Bill. Thanks for your very astute input.

One more comment: I’ve generally found that those who are the most critical of the founding generation’s shortcomings in this area are themselves hypocritically doing something far worse: they are empowering the killing of 3 - 4000 American babies every day through abortion.

Rb ver. 2.0, I have no idea whether this is true in your case. I don’t know you.

That is true. Most of my friends know that I’ve been hoping Fred Thompson will enter the race and yet, that hasn’t mattered at all. I was welcomed most kindly, treated with respect, and best of all, I get to visit with friends who are no longer here.

I’ll take and order of borscht over an ice pick any day.

Who wouldn't? LOL

For a quick change of topic, heard an old story long ago about how, when Stalin was on his deathbed, he called Nikita Khrushchev to his bedside and said "Nikita, I know that you will eventually become the new leader of the USSR, and so I am giving you two letters in two sealed envelopes.

"If you find yourself in a political crisis, open the first letter. Should your very life be in danger, open the second letter."

Nikita thanked Josef, and soon after Stalin died.

Not long after Khrushchev consolidated his power, the Soviet Union was faced with a great famine and the peasants were getting restless, so he opened the first letter, it said "blame everything on me." So Khrushchev blamed the famine on Stalin, denounced Stalin's 'cult of the personality' in 1956, and Khrushchev was seen as a 'new' kind of Soviet leader.

Not quite 10 years later, in the aftermath of the Cuban Missile Crisis and the uncertainty of the Cold War, Khrushchev knew that Brezhnev and Kosygin were probably plotting to seize power, and being fearful for his life, Khrushchev opened the second letter from his mentor, which said "Nikita my old friend? Prepare two letters..."

Jefferson tried but as you stated there was a compromise to get the DoI passed.
From the rough draft.....

he has waged cruel war against human nature itself, violating it's most sacred rights of life & liberty in the persons of a distant people who never offended him, captivating & carrying them into slavery in another hemisphere, or to incur miserable death in their transportation thither. this piratical warfare, the opprobrium of infidel powers, is the warfare of the CHRISTIAN king of Great Britain. determined to keep open a market where MEN should be bought & sold, he has prostituted his negative for suppressing every legislative attempt to prohibit or to restrain this execrable commerce: and that this assemblage of horrors might want no fact of distinguished die, he is now exciting those very people to rise in arms among us, and to purchase that liberty of which he has deprived them, & murdering the people upon whom he also obtruded them; thus paying off former crimes committed against the liberties of one people, with crimes which he urges them to commit against the lives of another.

>>It’s sounding like a central block committee meeting around here. The liberal conservative purge was one thing, trying to tar just people because they’re registered at different websites is another.<<

That’s closer to helpful - at least you stated what your issue is - banning people for something they said on another web site.

I’m not sure what a “central block committee” meeting is.

I disagree with your premise, btw, if I say something on a Freep related board, I would expect that people who know me from the various boards might react wherever they read it, assuming its worthy of note.

I’m reading another thread where somebody is posting from The Nation - its an article blaming Yeltson for free market policies. We’re discussing whether or not it matters who wrote the article and where it was published. I think the principle is consistent - we have free speech but others listen to that speech and take it into consideration when evaluating our input.

I met a PHD Biologist last week and said I was very impressed with something she wrote 10 years ago. She was very surprised to find I had read anything by her and that I found it in 5 minutes on the web.

Its not just a Freep thing - its a fact of life thing that you get credit or blame for what you say online.
