A Bulla (seal) bearing a Hebrew name from 2,600 years ago was uncovered from dirt excavated in 2013 beneath Robinson's Arch at the foundations of the Western Wall. The seal is inscribed with the name of an individual with the most prominent role in the king's court in the kingdom of Judea. The Bulla (seal), which was used to sign documents, bears the Hebrew name and title: "Adenyahu Asher Al Habayit" which literally translates as “Adenyahu by Appointment of the House”- a term used throughout the Bible to describe the most senior minister serving under a kings of Judea or Israel.

Odd finding a seal in such a warm climate.

All bad joking aside, that’s an incredible find and it shows that there are always wonderful new (or old) items to be fascinated by.

And studying The Bible can be a lifetime endeavor

Great news!

The bulla is approximately one-centimeter-wide, and according to the type of writing that appears on it...

... Sarah at age 90 is great with child. Is anything too hard for the Lord?
Parentheses, two parent thesis. Isaac inside.

Gotta laugh...

Graphically the exclamation mark is represented as a full stop point with a vertical line above. One theory of its origin is that it is derived from a Latin exclamation of joy (io). The modern graphical representation is believed to have been born in the Middle Ages. Medieval copyists wrote the Latin word io at the end of a sentence to indicate joy. The word io meant "hurray". Over time, the i moved above the o, and the o became smaller, becoming a point.

!

(.) + 90 + joy. It's all right there.

Fascinating discovery considering the times we in and the Israeli’s actively preparing the construction of the third temple....also Adenyahu sounds an aweful lot like Netanyahu

Just note that the majority orthodox Jewish opinion is that G-d will build (reveal, “lower”) the 3rd temple.

Our priests (all traceable to Aaron’s lineage) just practice barbecuing. Too bad they don’t offer levies like me free singing and instrumental lessons to harmonize our Psalms...

“There were no seals in Palestinian Arabic.”

If there were, we would know right away that they were fake, as there was no written Arabic language until well after the death of Mohammed, piss be upon him.

When will they find a 2,000 year old Palestinian Seal?

Ok, how about a 100 year old one.

Arabic is a relatively new cousin (or perhaps “niece”) language of Hebrew.

It dates from the 500s at the earliest - unless one counts Nabatean as “early Arabic”, in which case it dates to 100 BC or thereabouts.

Hebrew is older, but still younger than the ancient Akkadian language.

the Afro-Asiatic language tree (which includes Hebrew, Aramaic, Arabic, Akkadian, Babylonian, Assyrian, Coptic, Amharic (Ethiopia), Somali languages and Berber languages) is ancient - with the earliest splits seen as occuring before 4000 BC. In comparison, around 4000 BC, Indo-European was still one language - or perhaps even still being formed from perhaps a mixture of Hurrian and Finno-Ugric.

Though the Arab claim seems to be based on
1. They are descended from Philistines and/or Canaanites
2. They are descended from converted Jews etc.
3. They were already there before the Jewish state was formed.

These are contradictory.

The ancient Philistines were a proto-Greek or Luwian people and were never numerous — they were absorbed into the Israeli and other peoples and completely disappeared by the time of the neo-Assyrian empire.

“Palestinians” = many DO have some Jewish ancestry, others have Egyptian, Jordanian, Bedo etc. ancestry - most have a mix (naturally).

And in 1800 the land that became Israel was practically deserted due to neglect by the Ottomans. Aliyah started under the Turks - who welcomed the Jews in as they reinvigorated the land and brought tax revenues
