What do you guys think of Jehovah's Witnesses? I talk to them all the time, I don't think that they will comment because they are not allowed to discuss politics.

They’re outrageous heretics who believe that God the Father has 2 sons, Jesus and Lucifer! Pray for them but don’t let them in your house.

When I moved from New Hampshire to Connecticut (From homelessness to an apartment) I got a job at a Tile Art studio. An apprentice, and kiln-operator, I also silk-screened and grouted small art projects for the owners who occupied their time touring and designing tile projects in multi-million dollar mansions.

My Boss was a woman. A nice woman, who offered support and generous amounts of patience and training.

I was fired 2 weeks later. The reason cited ? “(she) is a jehovah’s witness, and can not have a male working under her supervision.”

Yeah yeah, laws and all that. No matter, I was able to find a job in I.T., where I belonged. But still, it haunts me to this day.

Don't let them in your house.

My mother would hide in the basement when she saw them coming up the steps...

they are not allowed to discuss politics.

Sounds like the roots of oppression.

Did you hear about the Universalist Unitarian who converted to be a Jehovah's Witness?

He liked going door to door, but he didn't have anything to say.

They do NOT vote.

I am a friend of the maintenance guy in our office who is JW. He would come in my office for years and complain about taxes, the war, the pres.

One day I asked him who he voted for (generally, they are very conservative) and he told me that it is against their religion to vote. I hit the ceiling.

I told him to get out of my office and never come in and talk politics again until he votes.

They don’t register and don’t vote. They do not recognize the Deity of Jesus Christ. Their first chapter of John in their bible is altered, to omit the reference to Jesus being with God in the beginning.....

My one close encounter with these people is a family whose brother joined the bizarre cult in question.

Their mother was very ill. The son agreed to visit his mother on her deathbed only if she would agree not to have any blood transfusions. He made it known that he was really being a nice guy about even considering seeing her in the first place, since she was not a cult member.

However, she went ahead with the transfusions and he never came to see her. He also refused to attend her funeral.

I think of them as just another cult created by a nut case - like scientology and islam.

Jesus didn't celebrate Christmas because the Winter Solstice, Dec. 25 was the SUN GOD Mithra's birthday. Roman church under Constantine made it Jesus birthday. It is definitely a pagan holy day. Still is.

Unbearable but harmless. I can’t stand being around people who get outraged when you wish them a happy birthday.

Oh, we lived in probably the only house in town that the JW’s avoided.

My Dad was a Baptist preacher and he’d invite them in... told them to only bring in the Bible and leave the other books outside.

Then he’d rip their beliefs into shreds. (using Biblical references, of course.)

Word spread... do NOT go the the First Baptist Church parsonage.

They abstain from any form of nationalism or government besides paying their taxes.

They are generally meek and respectful. I once studied with them for a while and they seemed like good people who built a wall to keep out things they don’t approve of. This had included their son whom they had cut off over his behavior.

But I was a Baptist and it didn’t work.
