It's never been about poll numbers, ever since 9/11..

W. in effect agreed that someone had to stop the continuation of the ruining of the presidential stature by Bill and the libs.. he accepted that role on principle, and I would be willing to bet that he probably wouldn't mind getting the hell out of the oval office..

but he has the same sense of service to this country that his father had, and he is blessed with a good heart, and yes, some foibles..

but we have to support him.. Good God, consider where we'd be right now with Gore and cabinet!!!

Who would have been his Sec.Defense?, etc.?

Just imagining who would be handling this makes me want to puke..

Oh, I agree. Bush has not even-handedly applied the "Bush Doctrine" to Israel. Nooooo arguement there.

You are correct. It will take years. And the unspoken reason it will take years is because of the damage left behind by X42. How can you fight a war, when you have civilians - and possibly military - personnel loyal to X42 and leak battle plans to the press? I work in a government facility and the civil servants, most of them, are downright hostile to anything conservative. That's why it will take years. Because, not only does the Bush team have to go after those who want to bomb and kill us, but also due to the fact that others in this nation - civil servants and the press - who actually want him to fail.

Uh.. Saudi's and Arafat paying families cash in exchange for their childrens' feeble attempt at martyrdom?

Then why doesn't Bush follow through with his words that the governments who support terrorism will no longer enjoy our support?

Instead, he continues to kiss up to them.

But the problem is Alliances & Politics. I'm sure Bush would like to kick their @ss just as much as we would, but everybody doesn't feel that way in the rest of the world.

I agree with your statement. When we all understand that Bush's "with us or against us" speech was just nothing more than rhetoric... we'll all have a better dose of reality.

Myself.... I think this war on terrorism is a joke. We charged into the mountains of Torra Bora without surrounding it first and we can't figure out why they all escaped?? We don't punish states who fund terrorists?? We search old women and children getting on planes because we're afraid of profiling while we sit around waiting for the next terrorist bomb (dirty nuke, real nuke, or whatever to drop. We can't kill the badguys because they hide among people willing to hide them. (aka accomplices)

We are not in a serious war. We are in a PRO.....public relations ordeal.

I know how you feel. I too at first, got angry and thought the same. But I have to have faith in Rummy, Condi and President Bush. I don't know. Maybe hanging around military types for 13 years have made me realize there is a whole that goes on behind the scenes then we of. That's just my experience and opinon.

Clara....what i'm talking about is a positive huge response right now..they dont give a damn about civilian casualties...in fact they crave them !

Show them right in their face 1000 times the carnage they sow....then this crap will stop......because you either wipe them out .or you put the fear of "allah" in them.

I'm betting the "pucker" factor of a true giant response will cause them to scury back to their nest....

After reading through your posts and the replies to same, are you saying you want the Bush team to get on television everyday and give a blow-by-blow account of what they are doing and plan to do? If you think that way, that is absurd. Let's say that Bush plans to go after Iraq on August 15. Do you want him to go on television and tell the world? Do you not think that others besides yourself is watching the tube?

As soon as his poll numbers drop sufficientley he'll go after Saddam like his Daddy should have years ago.

But..but..I thought that his administration wasn't going to pay attention to polls?

But words matter. And they'd better realize that. Especially if they want the luxury of being able to choose between talking softly and using your big stick. If an enemy comes to disregard your words, you're left with only the big stick.

Isn't "rag head" a little insenitive and uncaring to our Arab neighbors?

Honestly, I don't care about what our Arab neighbors think, seeing how most of them hate us as much as they hate Israel.

A better question would be whether Arafat represents the views of most Arabs who wear headcoverings.

You're exactly right Teacup. After 20 years in the Army, believe me, there are many things happening right now that no one has a clue is going on. I've seen it all in person. I have complete faith that the war is moving on as planned.

SCOUTS OUT!

Perhaps so, but is Bush going to continue to act like Clinton in his delaying tactics?

Ah, you need instant gratification. Bush has defeat terrorism worldwide in 30 minutes, or he's Clinton or Carter. I see.

Yep, if he can't solve the problems in the Middle East, even though nobody else has ever been able to do so, right now, then he is a total failure.

It's his fault that the Palestinians are attacking Israel. Yep.

He hasn't cleaned up the entire world to your specifications, so he's a horrible failure. I think we understand now.

Carter would have surrendered by now. We'd have President bin Laden.

BTW, is "rag-head" really that constructive. It's one thing for a comment, but a vanity post?

One of our biggest problems right now is that we are perceived as the evil empire by everybody else in the world. Even our supposed allies are against us even though we were attacked by Terrorists, that tells me that they were happy we were hit. Sometimes taking care of America & Americans takes precedence over keeping the rest of the world happy.
There will come a point where Bush has to make Americans happy & safe or comply with the rest of the worlds request, either way we're in for a long drawn out nasty war if not World War III. I don't think that people screaming for immediate retaliation have thought about the reprecussions of our undeclared war.
Also we have our own Cultural & religious war going on right here in America, how can we fight Terrorism when our Politicians & our courts are more worried about the Terroists rights & hurting the Arab peoples feelings then catching the B@stards. In short America seems to be on a path of Self destruction of our own making, hopefully Bush will keep a cool head & handle it in a responsible manor. At least that is what I hope.

Bush does way too much "delegating". He should be more decisive. You're right on the domestic part. He does mostly follow the lead of the dems.

Which makes one think: Why should it take so long?

Wars are not won easily. It took years to win WWII and decades to defeat the Soviet Union. It's been less than a years since September 11th, and tremendous progress has been made. President Bush has been remarkably effective as Commander in Chief. The enemy is scattered in small cells across the globe, and it's going to take years to track them down. We have a good strategy in place to do that, but it requires patience and determination.

Taking so long risks the very real possibility that American will will wane as well as the possibility that a new president will drop the "war" altogether. You can't fight a war when you're not there to fight it.

One of the biggest risks is pushing this "loser mentality". These feeble attempts to undermine our successes is the sort of thing I'd expect from President-wannabe Rodham.
