Founder and CEO Mike Grondahl detailed a history of rampant abuse at the company and alleged it misrepresented its financials during a recent interview with controversial right-wing X user Libs of TikTok.
This comes after weeks of calls for boycotts of the brand after the company canceled the membership of a Planet Fitness gym goer after speaking out about a biological male in the women's locker room.
Planet Fitness's policy allows gym members to use the locker room associated with their gender identity. But this policy has led to a few high-profile cases of women feeling uncomfortable in Planet Fitness women’s locker rooms, and some women and children have reported abuse and sexual harassment at the facilities. Many of these incidents resulted in the women losing their membership, but an arrest was made in at least one instance, as previously reported by Benzinga.
In the 15-minute interview, Grondahl outlined the history of the company and the reason behind its founding. Grondahl started the gym, noting the Judgement Free Zone was meant to be a welcoming signal to novice gymgoers looking for a place to start. But when speaking about the company today, Grondahl says it's "devastating" what it's become.

"When we went public, the majority of the board knew that this lead attorney was a pedophile. It's in the culture." Grondahl said during the TikTok interview.
The Planet Fitness "culture" includes accusations of widespread abuse at the company.
"It started at the corporate office, this attorney started abusing employees, then he's abusing them sexually, now the culture leads into the people doing the right thing are being thrown out of Planet Fitness," Grondahl said.

Once those "extra" members realize they might as well discontinue their membership they never use, it cascades down from there.
Planet Fitness will be forced to raise rates for the members who stayed, further accelerating the departures.
The evil pricks at Blackrock are the biggest shareholder. That is why the creeps were allowed in girls locker room and why they doubled down when then it came out.
It seems such an easy problem to fix. Have a policy that men go in the men’s locker room, and women go in the women’s. No crossover, no gender identity exceptions.
Perhaps the people running that company would rather go broke and make a political statement , than have nay desire to run a profitable ongoing business. It’s their choice.
But just think of all the creeps who will now want to sign up with Planet Pervert

Used to be my gym. I would go at night, (bad idea) thinking it was a better atmosphere..after an hours workout i would go to the pool, jacuzzi and sauna. It would be literally empty. Of course last time i did this a guy followed me in there and luckily he hesitated off in the sauna staring at me in the jacuzzi, estimating in what way to make a move I’m sure. Very bad vibes. I was closer to the locker room than he and got in there and realized there is not a soul in here and I had to get dressed from a bathing suit. Did it quicker than anything and got out of there. Never went at night again.

It’s a great concept worth the no frills 15 a month I loved it there but quit a few years ago when they had their first transgender so called spasm. It’s nothing new. Anyway I wish I could have stayed but nope don’t want men showering with me and etc I feel threatened by odd men when I am nekkid - very vulnerable estate, not ok.

The aggrieved “disabled” bring massive lawsuits at the slightest hint of discrimination.
I’ve seen local stores go out of business for very mild ADA violations but the bastards that make a living out of suing for those tiny violations came down on them like a ton of bricks.
