Perhaps foreseeing a Russian win or stalemate in Ukraine, some foreign policy experts urge that it cede territory. French President Emmanuel Macron calls for not “humiliating” Russia. These entreaties could miss the mark. The battlefield is fluid and could turn for or against Ukraine. The West should prudently prepare for Ukrainian success as well as a less favorable outcome.
A few weeks ago, euphoria reigned when Ukrainian forces pushed back Russian attempts to seize Kyiv, Kharkiv and Odesa — Ukraine’s three largest cities. Now, pessimism is ascendant. President Volodymyr Zelensky speaks of “very fierce” fighting in eastern Ukraine and high casualties. Ukrainians may be running out of some ammunition.

I think everyone who made money off this can now slink away, let peace reign and l t the rest of us get on with our lives.
Who really gives a damn if Russia fails or succeeds? We have zero national interest in Ukraine.
From what I can see, Russia will only ‘fail’ in Ukraine after glassifying the US and Europe, as Ukraine is a red line for them - they will exhaust all they have first.
The question then becomes what kind of a world do we end up with, when the population is reduced by some 90%? Will our WEF/Globalist/Neocon Masters be able to rule over the ruins? I suspect they may think so.
What if monkeys fly out of my posterior.
I think my favorite here is the absolute opposites being pushed at the same time by the same people.
1. Russia isn’t winning and they can’t gain ground
2. We need to support the Ukraine because Russia will reform their empire.
It doesn’t dawn on them that these two concepts are contradictory...
Maybe Zelenski will flwp his arms, and fly.
Random aside: for the Russian generals to have already forgotten about Ukrainian mud is probably one of the most face palm inspiring tactical goofs in decades.
If they fail, they should surrender, of course. And immediately ask for asylum in Ukraine. I remember what happened to Solzhenitsyn. Russians were supposed to return to Russia either victorious or dead. Not alive but defeated.
This has really been a big war game.
NATO got to see what the “Mighty Russian”
military is capable of.
We don’t give a shit about Ukraine, historically
they were the rulers of what is now modern Russia.
We showed the world what “Shock and Awe” is, the Russians are showing us what their version is.
That is priceless.
CCP Chinese in Taiwan are next.
It will be a real hoot when Taiwan blows the Three Gorges dam.
They have already succeeded, to a large extent. Ukraine is destroyed and they have called NATO’s bluff. Ukraine will have no economy or real productive investment for years, especially if NATO and the US deep state continue to make it a weapons depot and pawn for confronting Russia.
Ukraine had 50+ million population when it left the Soviet Union. It had about 35 million at the start of the war back in February. 5-6 million have fled, and Russia will grab back at least 10+ million in the east, who will become Russian citizens. Ukraine already has one of the lowest birthrates in the world and a majority of young adults emigrated every year even when there was relative peace. Ukraine could very well just disappear.

That common in establishment 'lack' of thinking. Jeez, it's common here on FR. I was just going back and forth with some moron who one on hand is for a law and order, but on the other hand for abusing law abiding citizens rights. He can't identify the problem, so he fixes the wrong problem with a solution what won't even work. A ton of morons running around.
What if Chiba suddenly runs out of rice?
Wishful thinking but if true we would have troops there and financially support Ukraine for 20 years and it would end up like the Afghanistan withdrawal.
“We have zero national interest in Ukraine.”
You are 100% correct. This is a European issue. Collectively the nations of Western Europe have economy’s with GDP comparable to the United States. If 75 years after the end of World War II those countries are incapable of dealing with political and military issues in their backyard, then let them suffer the consequences of failing to develop the military power to defend themselves and the economic infrastructure to be self sufficient.
The United States needs to stop playing the role of world policeman. Time to let other nations step up to protect their own interests. Bring the US military stationed around the world home and start using our troops to protect our own southern border.
You need to forget the attacks on 3 Gorges - if that happened it would wipe out 4 of China’s largest cities, potentially killing 400,000,000 people and their response would be nuclear.

It had about 35 million at the start of the war back in February

What did you do to the other 9 million Ukrainians?
This guy seems to have a understanding on the situation.
