PITTSBORO, N.C. (AP) Police in North Carolina say they've arrested two people after a "physical altercation" at a protest over a Confederate statue slated to be removed.
The Chatham County Sheriff's Office said Saturday it arrested Calvin James Megginson and Timothy James Osborn on charges related to the altercation. Both were released and are due in court next month.
A pro-Confederate group is trying to stop removal of the statue, which has been stationed outside the county courthouse in Pittsboro since 1907.which has been stationed outside the county courthouse in Pittsboro since 1907.

They did more protesting that one time than we all have done here :)
I can’t BELIEVE how easily the south let the statues fall.
Orwellian moment!
It was heartbreaking.
I guess I still have a romanticized image of the South and thought thousands of men with guns would show up and surround the statues, ready to defend them to the end.
Times change.
I notice that the AP neglects to show us a picture of the statuary in question. Mustn’t risk offending snowflakes, I guess
I grew up in Chatham County, NC just a few miles from Pittsboro. It was a wonderful area with great friendly people. About three years ago, Northerners began to move down here to escape the high taxes levied by the Democrat politicians in New York and other cities and states. They ran for political offices down here and now hold the majority of the Chatham County Commissioners seats. Since then, everything has started to go downhill. Sad.
Looks like they arrested the butternut and the blue belly....orange belly technically
Let em fight it out
We have Freepers on my homepage who think those of us against the removal of statues celebrating the courage of our ancestors are pro confederate or actually neoconfedrate in their words
Per my tag line this is a view held by our founder here thst these statues should be left be
Maybe this forums Hate Dixie Brigade should page Fresno and register their complaint
Dixie
Alamo
Washington
Jefferson
And so on...
Itll never end
The left get to desecrate and remove the statue with no repercussions just cheers and applaud and the two who just protested get arrested. We know what side we are on. Like the proud boys incident they get 4 years in prison and those antagonist domestic terrorist antifa are left alone
Looks like the guy on the left messed up the guy’s man bun on the right.
Pro-Confederate or Pro-historical preservation?
Cultural Marxists are engaging in a Maoist Revolution. They’ve let it slip that Thomas Jefferson also must go.
Funny thing is that there are Broan Nationalists who want to restage the Texas battle for independence.
They believe “their South’ will rise again.
They believe that the Southwestern United States is their by birthright.
They believe in Aztlan and Reconquista.
They are inside academia and our government.
And yet these Commierats NEVER once push to have Klan recruiter Sinner Robert “Sheets” Byrd’s (D-KKK) name removed from ANYTHING.
I know a town where that would happen.....exactly as you described.
A new Democrat president will likely by executive order direct the nation park service to close military monuments to the Confederacy, such as Vicksburg, MS, and remove anything “Confederate” located within the other national parks that extol the Union victory, such as Gettysburg. The American people should get off their couches and wake up.
The name of the group is United Daughters of the Confederacy (UDC), which is the same group who donated the statue to the town of Pittsboro NC 100 years ago.
It would accurate to identify them as pro-Confederate, don't you agree?
That would be a blasphemy of one of their phony tin wannabe deities.
It would accurate to identify them as pro-Confederate, don’t you agree?

I don’t see why people are getting uptight the the group being referred to as “Pro-Confederate”. If your honoring your ancestors who fought for the Confederacy, then why be ashamed of it?
I’ve actually been to Pittsboro and seen that monument. For God’s sake just leave it alone.
The decision was made by the Chatham County Board of Commissioners, who are local elected officials.
However you describe it, the action is being taken locally.
“Pro-Confederate”? Why not Pro-History?
