Dont say America wasnt warned. During the oral arguments for same-sex marriage in 2015, a question came up about the fallout for Christian education.
Asked if religious schools could be punished for holding a natural view of marriage, U.S. Solicitor Donald Verrilli was surprisingly honest. [I]ts certainly going to be an issue. I dont deny that, Justice Alito. It is going to be an issue.
Four years later, that prophecy is coming to pass. Out in Maryland, a Christian charter school was told by state officials that it cant participate in the voucher program anymore because of its biblical beliefs on marriage and sexuality.
The leadership of Bethel Christian Academy was stunned. After all, it relied on that money to serve the schools 280 low-income kids. For two years, those vouchers were what made their option to public school possible.
Now, intolerant bureaucrats are telling Bethel that not only is it barred from the program, but it has to pay back the $100,000 it receivedwhich, to a small academy like this one, is a financial death sentence.
Bethel Christian Academy offers an academically rigorous and caring Christian education in a diverse environment, said the schools attorney from Alliance Defending Freedom.

We’re next...
Churches should not be beholden to the powers and principalities. You become a slave to an evil master. There’s a price for everything.
Combined General and Maryland “Freak State” PING!
No man can serve two masters, and all that.
Those warning bells are deafening.
Time to heed them.
Folks, if you think about it, this is why Free Republic has chosen not to take money from outside sources.
We foot the bill so that others can’t dictate to us what we post here.
That being said, it’s only a matter of time before FR will be attacked as a hate site.
No, it’s just a site that supports common sense and the first amendment.
“Churches should not be beholden to the powers and principalities. You become a slave to an evil master. Theres a price for everything.”
That should be shouted from the rooftops of every Church in the country.
The voucher program is open to all American schools, or none at all. It is an “all American” program, all taxpayers have paid for. It cannot discriminate against religious points of view anymore than it can against non-religious points of view.
The LEGAl issues about LGBT are ONLY about what of those behaviors is LEGAL behavior or not. That is not a MORAL position the legal position empowers the government to teach and preach. It merely represents non-discrimination in an academic sense and in academic administration. It is not a legal position that places the government on one side or the other of any moral position, or places that position in the curriculum as what must taken with regard to any “LGBT” matter. The “LGBT” beliefs don’t get their bible preached in PUBLIC classrooms anymore than do Christians.
“That being said, it’s only a matter of time before FR will be attacked as a hate site.”
... and then Jim served with a subpoena to provide names of members.
If you take the King’s Shilling - you do the King’s Bidding.
However - Taxpayers should have a right to say where their money should go.
Call it the List Of Witnesses!
Excellent, EXCELLENT point. What more could I add? That God Himself furnishes the price to pay for anything that's worthwhile.
Get out of the mushy middle, O school. Be a Christian witness from alpha to omega, at the price Jesus gladly paid on the cross.
I understand your view on this. I went to a university which refused to accept government support (although it did some projects on a quid pro quo basis which is separate from support). I support that stand completely.
But the time to stand up and fight is now, because this is the nose under the tent situation. Once a government decides it wants to control an entity, it can “find” government support at any time. It has already argued that a student on a veteran benefit or a government-guaranteed loan is the same as government support. It can go further to assert that roads to and from a school are government support, as is fire and police protection, utilities and garbage collection, zoning benefits, etc. ad infinitum. If it wants to find government involvement, it can and will. So, rather than capitulate at this point, the schools should fight and other potentially threatened organizations should join in the fight.

Mike Farris, the President of ADF is an absolutely brilliant constitutional attorney. I predict he’s going to have fun with this one.
Then they came for meand there was no one left to speak for me.
This will be overturned and Bethel will receive enough money to last them a lifetime. Think Jack Phillips.
It can be deplatformed.
