A security guard at a Walgreens on FM 1960 opened fire on two armed, masked teens who were preparing to enter the store, critically wounding one of the suspects. He later died at the hospital. The double shooting happened around midnight on Saturday night at the Walgreens at FM 1960 and Ella Boulevard in northeast Harris County, just west of Interstate 45. Lt. L.R. Rush of the Harris County Sheriff's Office told Metro Video that two cousins, ages 18 and 16, approached the store in what authorities believe was a planned robbery.
They did not see the security guard, who came from around the corner and approached the pair. He told them to stop, at which time one of the armed men pulled a gun from his waist band and pointed it at the guard. The guard pulled his gun and opened fire on both suspects. The security guard "engaged them at this point and verbally ordered them to put their guns down," Rush said. "The one with the gun pointed at him and he let fly. He took both of them down." The suspect who allegedly pulled his gun, 16, was shot multiple times and transported to the hospital in critical condition. Sheriff Ed Gonzales later tweeted that he had been "confirmed deceased" at the hospital. The second suspect, 18,was shot in the calf and tried to run away. Rush, who happened to be in the vicinity, responded to the scene and apprehended the second suspect.

LOL
There is an armed security guard in *one* of the local grocery stores near a housing project and the downtown.
Two miles away, at the other store in the chain, in the nice, more suburban north end area, there is none.
One WalMart [walking distance to housing projects] everything worth anything is in locked cases and you have to beg someone to fetch the key and then they carry the item to the checkout counter, themselves.
Armed guards at the doors.
The new WalMart, outside of town, the same items are out on shelves and cheery elderly people greet you at the door.
Same chain stores.
Different demographics.
Another WalMart in a nearby WV mall has shootings every few weeks.
[housing projects nearby]
*this post is probably racist
Huh?
Winning! Now this is darwinism.
JoMa
Bottom line right there.
Probably a good idea to move on . The homeys will be looking to take their revenge.
Chalk one up for the good guys!
They were. Yes, they were. One of them could even write his name in cursive.....
Just a couple of Boy scout’s working on their merit badges. /s
Nice shootin’ Tex.
I refuse to use those Damned self checkouts!!!
If they want ME to checkout Myself then they better have a 50% Discount factored off of My items. And make it 75% if they want Me to Bag My purchases also...
Oh yeah- Nice shooting there Security Guard !
Shoplifting suspect killed by Walgreens security guard was targeted because black, gay, sister says
And the vast majority of headlines do not contain the info that one of the perps was armed.
Is it the same store? According to the story, one happened in Harris County, Texas. The other in L.A.
Holy cats, you’re right. Jeez louise, no wonder Walgreens has armed security. Apparently I can’t read any better than those perps.
“I refuse to use those Damned self checkouts!!!”
I love the self checkouts. I’m out of the store in a minute and a half. I don’t have to wait for some woman (it’s almost always women) to fumble with her purse, pull out food stamps, write a check, make small talk, pull out dozens of expired coupons, etc. I also don’t have to deal with incredibly stupid checkers. Did I mention change purses?
And since no good deed goes unpunished, the police and security guards that failed them will be fired and sued.
...change purses.... Oh hold on I have the penny, find purse, open purse, root root root through purse, find change purse, peck through coins, find a dime instead of the penny...
Walmarts checkout is the best. Scan and then insert credit card. Despite the screen that shows a bunch of moron prompts there are only two steps required. Scan items and insert credit card. You do not have to press any of the placebo prompts.
He was going to hand the gun to the guard.
