Please enlighten me why Cruz is +8 and Abbott is +20 in Texas.

I doubt there is no crossover with folks voting R.

agreed, but you asked why abbott is vastly outperforming cruz, and that’s why.

Cruz is not likely to get votes from dems or some indies

Abbot is a very popular governor

BINGO.

If Ted Cruz wins, and I sincerely hope he does, for the next 6 years he’d better be backing Pres Trump everyday, everyway, in all measures.

If he does that, than he’d probably get much higher numbers in his (hopefully) next reelection.

In this part of Texas, you wouldn’t know that there is a Governor’s race going on, except for radio ads.

I have not seen one single campaign sign nor bumper sticker for Lupe Valdez. I’ve not heard any radio ads, either. I haven’t seen Abbott signs, either, but I do hear ads for him on the radio.

There has never been any doubt in my mind that I’d vote for Ted Cruz. Do I like him? I don’t know. I haven’t given it any thought. It’s not important. Even if I thought “Beto” was the coolest, cutest, most handsome thing out there- which I don’t- no way would I ever vote for him.

Among other reasons mentioned above, Abbott is running against Lupe Valdez, former sheriff of Dallas County, Texas. Thing is, her record as sheriff was abysmal and many Democrats can’t bring themselves to support her - or actively loathe her - for what happened when she was sheriff. Even Hispanic/Lesbian identity politics won’t save her.

The Irish Fake Mexican doesn’t have a significant recent history in Texas, much like Obama didn’t have much of a real history either.

The Democrats want to groom Beto as a potential next Obama. He is a minority candidate who could run for president sometime later as the appealing new face of the Democratic Party. That’s what they want. It is therefore in their best interest that they have their willing accomplices in the Press weight the polls to make Beto seem more appealing than he really is.

Ted will perform very closely to the level of other Republicans in the state and Beto is pretty much used toilet paper come Wednesday morning. We need to make sure that he is prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law for what he does or doesn’t do properly with that 60 million dollars as a failed political candidate.

I’ve yet to see one add for Lupe lesbo.
Abbott seems to be unapposed.
And the dork Butthead O’Rourke, is going to burn out hugely!
He’s like a chronic meth-head who can’t be still. Spouting jibberish he thinks his followers want to hear. He’s just a tard, and never go full retard.

I remember that day. During the next week the un-endorsements began rolling in and it was the beginning of the end.

Beto is spending $3 for every $4 he raises.

As expected, accurate answer by the third post.

And.

One hundred percent of the people complaining about Lying Ted being harder to elect see not one thing wrong with blaming people who voted for Trump in the primaries for the physical assaults from the left at Trump's Chicago rally.

That's why Cruz is in trouble, and people voting for him have to hold their nose to do it. Yeah, beats having drunken Irish Bob the transvestite, but the Texas #nevertrumpers who gave us Cruz in the primaries set us up to have a choice as to which candidate we wanted to vote against more, rather than one we could actually vote FOR.

Consider the accuracy of the polls in 2016.

Today’s polls aren’t any better.

Just guessing the reasons. Ted is less liked and more controversial, and Ted insulted DJT aand his supporters at the 2016 GOP convention. Some people don’t forget Ted blamed Trump for antifa violence, and made a carnival show of himself with Carly Fiorina.

And therein lies the problem with our side....we will use any reason to take "principled" actions to shoot ourselves in the head....and then bitch because the dems are ruining the country.

The important thing in all this is Cruz is ahead by 8 points. That’s a margin that cannot be overcome in the six days until the election. In the end he will win by 10 as undecided break in his favor.

Abbott is up that high because of his opponent. She never had a snowball’s chance in hell. Cruz might be up by 8 now, but will probably win by a double digit difference.

I’m here in TX and did not know this. No wonder he can claim no PAC money. He’s got his own stash.

I can’t believe what people are writing here! Freepers in Texas must vote for Cruz no matter what their feelings are. This Beto guy will be a disaster for the entire country, not just TX.

You are right. The feud he carried on with Trump is hurting him. I know solid republicans that are leaving the senate race blank because they haven’t forgotten his refusal to support the party’s nominee.

Democrats can’t even tell you who their candidate for governor is. There are no signage or t-shirts or bumper stickers. I have seen them for Abbott, thnough.
