In his first comments about a possible running mate, Republican front-runner Donald Trump said Saturday that former Massachusetts Sen. Scott Brown would make a "very good" vice president. "Vice president. Hey, that sounds like it could — hey, hey — very good," Trump said at a rally in Portsmouth, N.H. that was hosted by Brown, The Hill reports. Trump made the remark after he asked Brown whether he would consider running for office again and a member of the audience raised the idea of a Trump-Brown ticket, according to the Hill. "Hey, you know what?" Trump added. "And he’s central...

Over the last few months, celebrations for Abraham Lincoln's 200th birthday have drawn attention to the Kentucky native's life and his legacy as president. But the 200-year anniversary of another Kentucky president's birth, Confederate President Jefferson Davis, is receiving mixed reviews. "I'll say it this way - winners write history," said Ron Bryant, a Lexington historian writing a book on Davis. "We need heroes, we need villains. Lincoln became a hero and Davis a villain." Davis was born in what is now Todd County, Ky., in 1808, one year before Lincoln. Davis served as the only president of the 11...

We all know about actor Michael Richards' racial epithets at last Friday night's performance at the Laugh Factory in Los Angeles. But yesterday, this exclusive TMZ.com article revealed that the three-time Emmy-award-winning actor had also hurled anti-Semitic slurs at the Improv comedy club in April of this year. According to the piece, Richards yelled at an audience member, "You f***ing Jew. You people are the cause of Jesus dying." And here's the kicker: Richards' own representative has confirmed that this actually happened. So how did the Los Angeles Times cover this latest revelation in today's paper (Thursday, November 23, 2006)? They...

September 01, 2006 The Unlearned Lesson of Katrina By Robert Tracinski In the press coverage of the first anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, we expect a fair bit of the usual throwing around of blame for political advantage, but to my surprise that has not been the main theme of the coverage (though Ted Kennedy couldn't resist a crudely partisan tirade). Instead, the dominant theme of the anniversary coverage is what is not being mentioned. Having reported the wrong story about the flooding of New Orleans one year ago, the press is trying to protect its distortion by excising from history...

Bank of America insists it can't find slave profits in its past April 30, 2005 BY FRAN SPIELMAN City Hall Reporter Under fire from the City Council's champion for slave reparations, Bank of America stuck to its guns Friday: The bank has hired a researcher to dig deeper but has so far has uncovered no evidence that a predecessor bank invested in or profited from the slave trade. To the contrary, Bank of America said its research suggests that the predecessor, Providence Bank, "distanced itself from and declined to support slavery-related activities." That's even though John Brown -- Providence Bank's...

Why did the United States invade Iraq? President George W Bush claims that Iraq was an immediate threat, while Senator John Kerry says we Americans were misled into war. Other theories abound: filial revenge, oil dependency, or Halliburton's profits. But in fact, Bush's foreign policy advisers are driven by Cassandra-like visions of a dangerous future.

The Whitewater scandal was an American political scandal which developed in Bill Clinton's first term as president, after the death of deputy White House counsel Vincent Foster. After Foster's death it was learned that chief White House counsel Bernard Nussbaum had removed documents concerning the Whitewater Development Corporation from Foster's office. President Clinton and his wife had invested in this corporation; the Clintons were accused of fraud in connection with this investment during the Securities and Exchange Commission's investigation of the bankruptcy of Madison Guaranty, an Arkansas trust company. At Clinton's request, an independent counsel was appointed in 1994 by...

Bill Clinton thought he was off the hook regarding Danny Williams. Danny is now a teenager and does not know the identify of his father. While growing up, his mother told him his father was Bill Clinton. Arkansas troopers had actually taken Christmas presents to Danny on behalf of Bill. Danny's mother is Bobbi Ann Williams. She happens to be black, and when Clinton knew her in Little Rock, she was a crack cocaine hooker. When Clinton would go for a jog and take a little break from his duties at the governor's mansion, there was at least one occasion...
