I have sensed for weeks now that some in the media were on the verge of rolling out a contrary take on President Trumps first year in office.
And in the wake of yesterdays final passage of massive tax cuts, that moment has arrived.
The dominant media narrative, of course, is that Trump hasnt gotten much done, that hes in over his head, that he doesnt understand government, that he keeps picking petty fights rather than winning big battles.
But the thing about the pundits is that they get tired of pushing the same line, week after week, month after month. Some inevitably want to seize credit for a new insight, for getting ahead of the pack with a burst of contrarian wisdom.
And that hot take is, hey, maybe Trump has gotten some important things done after all.
Its true that the president had not gotten much from the Republican Congress this year. But a new law that cuts taxes for businesses and individualseven though the measure polls poorly and is not mainly aimed at the middle classputs an end to the verdict that Trump doesnt know how to work the Hill. Like it or not, this is a sprawling piece of legislation that was quickly pushed through the House and Senate in a show of party-line muscle.

It may have frozen over, but they’re still trying to drag America into it.
Trump is so far above Dorkbama the Muslim eunuch quota boy that one needs scientific notation to adequately state the difference.
And, MSM, that’s in morality, ability to keep promises, intellect, integrity, ability, and talent. (That’s only the first six of N attributes, where N is a very large number).
But, worry not, Dorkbama is out actively searching for another quota to fill.
There is reason to believe that Ryan and McConnell now know that they are playing catch-up. Trump has been successful. They haven't. Congress looks bad. If Congress wants to be perceived better next year, they need to jump on the Trump Train. I think they finally understand.
It will be fun to watch as the average taxpayer figures out they have a lot more money in their paycheck—a miracle!
” . . .even though the measure polls poorly . . .”
After the 2016 election, who in their right mind would put any validity into anything any poll says about anything?
Exactly
This is the corporate media were talking about. In the end, theyre all about the money. They did very well yesterday. To steal a line from Prizzis Honor: they love money more than they love their left establishment lunacy. And they LOVE their left establishment lunacy.
I believe the only reason the narrative is changing is because their tushes are about to hit the flames. Fear is a powerful deterrent.
If, as it’s beginning to sound like, the Mueller snow job is falling apart and some key witnesses are about to start talking to the hearings committees; then, the “demonrats” and the fitful, buzzing “journinsects” will be running and hiding, which appears to be the case.
Honestly, I think the tax plan will work out so well that the Left wingers will resort to tribalism like they never have before.
The reality is, Obama got 1 piece of major legislation done in his 8 years, and it was a dog and he got it done by forcing it through, they had to get both houses to approve the exact same bill... and then violated it all over the place during implementation to keep it going.
The line of “Trump has no legislative accomplishment” is now dead... so with that line dead the narrative has to change... don’t worry though, they will continue the Trump sucks and is incompetent, its not going away.... Just a momentary reprieve where they have to admit he did something.
The average taxpayer is grateful to get their refund each year—Thank You government for giving me back the money I overpaid you! Now they’re getting to keep a little more of their hard-earned money in the first place. That’s where the messaging/sales comes in. That beautiful Rino-taming show yesterday needs to continue. They need to keep selling Trump as the paycheck president.
DAMN I JUST CANT GET TIRED OF WINNING YET !!

Color me doubtful. IMHO the reason journalism can be styled the MSM or corporate media as a single entity is the same reason Adam Smith posited in 1776:People of the same trade seldom meet together, even for merriment and diversion, but the conversation ends in a conspiracy against the public, or in some contrivance to raise prices. It is impossible indeed to prevent such meetings, by any law which either could be executed, or would be consistent with liberty and justice. But though the law cannot hinder people of the same trade from sometimes assembling together, it ought to do nothing to facilitate such assemblies; much less to render them necessary. - Wealth of Nations. . . and the Associated Press newswire - a continual virtual meeting of all major journalism - has been ongoing since before the Civil War.That is an explanation as to why journalism is ideologically homogenous. As to how journalism is homogenous, I note that:
Blithely unconscious tho many Democrats may be of the source, the Democrat Party is the conspiracy against the public which Adam Smith would have predicted if told that journalists would all get their news from a virtual meeting among themselves.
- Journalism claims objectivity. Not just a good-faith effort at objectivity, but actual objectivity. That inherently must be and exaggeration. But if journalism knows that it is negative about society, lets dispense with the generousity and call it what it is - a lie.
- Journalism does know that it is negative: If it bleeds, it leads. To a first approximation, news is what bad things happened recedntly.
- Thus journalism calls (its own) negativity objectivity. But the conceit that negativity is objectivity is a very servicable definition of cynicism. Journalism is cynical about society.
- Thomas Paine pointed out in Common Sense that (contrary to the suggestion of tyrants everywhere, then and now) society and government not only are not synonymous, they are in a real sense opposites. Society (a.k.a. the market) provides our wants, government punishes wrongdoing. Society is a blessing, government a necessary evil.
- Thus it is not possible to be cynical about both society and government; cyniciasm about society leads directly (via the there oughta be a law impulse against evil within society) to faith in, even naiveté towards, government.
- The combination of cynicism toward society and concommitant naiveté toward government is precisely the defining syndrome of socialism (government ownership of, or in Fascism government regulatory domination of, the means of production follows from that syndrome).
Thats just how the Democrats hope it will be seen as—a miracle. And how it will be played by everyone who is not informed otherwise. The Republicans in general and The Donald in particular will need to promote the connection with their Christmas Present of 2017.
Soetero was a broken abacus to Trumps Cray computer skills
Thanks Kaslin.
I live in Oregon, where both Senators and Congressman are lefty loons, did try writing them. If I did what I would say' "Treasury is set to take in from 35 trillion to 45 trillion dollars in the next 10 years and allowing the taxpayer to keep 1.5 Trillion of that for their own families, you are against?"
The Compost has a long article about how this will not benefit Rs in the midterms.
Their reasoning is totally bizarre—and completely wrong.
Let us hope that is the conventional wisdom among the elites—if it is they will be hit with another shock in 2018 and again in 202.
