SACRAMENTO — As a legislative deadline loomed, California senators Thursday — in some cases, reluctantly — voted to pass a $400 billion plan to create a government-run health care system without a way to pay for it.

Senate Bill 562, by Sens. Ricardo Lara, D-Bell Gardens, and Toni Atkins, D-San Diego, passed 23-14 and will now advance to the Assembly, where it will likely be amended to include taxes. And that would mean the measure would require two-thirds votes in both chambers.

So how are they going to pay for it?

Easy, just use the excess profits from the bullet train revenue.

... and there is a proposed amendment that in order to have enough taxpayers paying into the DMV-type system, it would be illegal for anyone to purchase health insurance through a private plan. I don't know where this proposal stands.

This bill isn't going to pass. Trust me.

The one thing about leftist Democrats, is that they're afraid to show their hand too soon.

What this is, is a trial run. It's to energize the base so the ruling class there don't lose their power. It's also a message to the national Dems to start pushing single-payer nationwide.

This bill will die in the CA House.

“whether the federal government would permit California to use existing Medicare funding”

so part of the payment plan is to rob Medicare from retirees who worked all their lives and give it to million of foreign invaders.

So how are they going to pay for it?

Not at all, unless they seal the borders with the neighboring states.

These Californians are developing contingency plans. We are opting for Idaho instead of Texas, so you breath a sigh of relief.

The big question is whether us folks heading into retirement would be winners being able to soak others or if we would be losers. I suspect we will all be losers and have to head for the exits. House prices here will decline and will jump all over the west as sensible Californians flee.

Years ago my brother learned that Californians were selling out, moving to Texas, buying an equivalent house, and still had excess money to spend. No doubt they will be bringing California ideas to Texas, God help us all.

The Total California budget for this year is a little over 100 billion with about a 2 billion dollar deficit.
Now, they’re adding a 400 billion dollar single payer plan.
How in Hades will they pay for this???
Easy...paying for something isn’t an issue for Democrats.

I wouldn’t mind the California refugees if they wouldn’t come here and vote for the same socialist crap that forced them to flee California.

Idaho, too. Ada County (Boise) is in real danger of going 'Rat in the next few election cycles due to the influx of Commiefornians and other Left Coasters. Wake up, Idahoans!

Let it be funded by donations. Surely, those wealthy CA citizens will be glad to contribute. And the middle and lower classes can donate too if they desire.

Only reasonable way this plan will work. With no medical bills or monthly premiums, every citizen could donate something, small or large.

Raising taxes will only drive people away. Let them donate. Bill Gates and others will surely give, won’t they? They can cover this.

Best of luck in Idaho. Please tell the other Californians fleeing to go there, too.

Thank you.

They’re hoping the voters will not vote for the tax increases. Let’s them claim a moral victory without destroying the state.

So how are they going to pay for it?

The usual, of course.

Tax the rich, import more illegals, sell carbon credits, slap surcharges on every transaction under the sun moon and stars, start a Healthy! lotto, raid their state highway funds, shift other funds from vital infrastructure projects, sell snazzy CaliCare t-shirts, stuff like that.

Oh, and impose a 90% exit tax on all Americans fleeing that cesspool.
