SACRAMENTO — As a legislative deadline loomed, California senators Thursday — in some cases, reluctantly — voted to pass a $400 billion plan to create a government-run health care system without a way to pay for it.

Senate Bill 562, by Sens. Ricardo Lara, D-Bell Gardens, and Toni Atkins, D-San Diego, passed 23-14 and will now advance to the Assembly, where it will likely be amended to include taxes. And that would mean the measure would require two-thirds votes in both chambers.

So how are they going to pay for it?

We need to cut them off from federal funds of all kinds and let them pay for their own lunacy.
If they decide they want to be part of the USA again, they’ll have to fully cooperate with immigration enforcement.

Wow, that’s insane.

Yep. Let them stew in their own lunacy. Take care it doesn't spread. They are straight-out NUTS. We, the rest of the country, should not have to bail them out or support their poor decisions in any way.

When I lived in California, the state was buckling under the weight of a $100 billion annual budget.

Eventually, the voters who put these people in office may figure out that "single-payer" really means "n-payer," where n is the number of taxpayers who haven't fled the state yet.

The Assemble will need to pass a 220% tax rate to fully pay for it. I heard that the existing gross spending is now 180 billion, and it will cost 400 billion on top of that.

So the plan will cost twice as much as California’s entire budget, but they pass it anyway.

Complete stupidity.

Simple. Pay for it by taxing the profits from the sales of Jerry Brown’s/Swarzeneger’s carbon credits.

Good for them. This is how it’s supposed to work - every state does it their own way - the way they decide to do it.

All other States will benefit by watching how it works ... or doesn’t. The success or failure will inform decisions to be made by every other State’s elected representatives.

My guess is that it will cost ten times what they predict AND they’ll ask for other States to help them pay.

Just what I was going to say. If California votes to commit suicide why must I get punished for that? The federal taxes I paid last year was insane.

If this doesn’t chase the last remaining productive people out of that socialist paradise, I don’t know what will.

Most California families and businesses, the University of Massachusetts study said, would pay less for health care than they do now, even with the new taxes, because they would no longer pay premiums, deductibles or co-pays.

A Senate committee analysis released last week, however, estimated that the state would have to raise $200 billion in revenue each year, which it said could be done through a 15 percent payroll tax.

That's a very optimistic view, in all likelihood, impossible. However, businesses in California would support the measure so that they can get out of the health care for employees business.

“If this doesn’t chase the last remaining productive people out of that socialist paradise, I don’t know what will.”

It will allow businesses to jettison the healthcare responsibility to the state.

Big Business will like that.
