There is no end to the stupid circus that is California politics and culture. The population is addicted to it due to the pretend incomes they receive and then pay out in pretend mortgages, pretend taxes, pretend services and pretend pension plans.

There is a movie on HBO right now about the ponzie scheme mess of Bernie Madoff. California is a similar ponzi scheme. Just like the SEC never called and asked for the books to review because they knew they were eye-wash.., there is no call coming to California.

Eventually it will collapse and take a lot of the nation with it. It is as big a fraud as the 2008 collapse. They will never face it and prevent it. It is a state of millions of Bernie Madoffs, rich and poor they all are in the pretend game.

I was there last week. Gas is 1.50 more than in the state next door. There are 2600 SF homes on 1/5 acre lots with $550.00 month water bills. There are entire subdivision cities without the ability to provide water at any price and they don’t do the simple maintenance on their reservoirs and the water system is now going to really collapse.

It was a beautiful state and it has been made into a cancerous time bomb for the whole nation.

Crap. Now even more California refugees will be pouring into Texas.

I'm not too worried. I escaped California and moved my family to Texas eleven years ago. It was expensive, and hard to do. Most libs don't have the wherewithal to manage it, and most wouldn't think of moving here to begin with.

Of those who do manage to make it here, many don't last. I've seen several libs go back to where they came from after trying to make it here. This ain't LaLa Land.

It’s fascinating to watch california decapitating itself.

We’ll just say it’s the heat, snakes, scorpions and fire ants that they can’t handle.

Yeah. That’s it!

Glad you and your family made the adjustment, FRiend. :-)

Years ago my brother learned that Californians were selling out, moving to Texas, buying an equivalent house, and still had excess money to spend. No doubt they will be bringing California ideas to Texas

Why do so many Texans think that everyone who comes from California is a liberal? Has it never occurred to you that Texas has been receiving an exodus of conservative refugees from California for decades?

I relocated from my home state of California to Texas eleven years ago. Believe me when I say that I was one of many conservatives I knew at the time who were getting out.

I also know enough about liberal Californians to know that, by and large, they view Texas as the anus of the United States, and have NO desire to relocate here. After all, they live in Utopia.

Best of luck in Idaho. Please tell the other Californians fleeing to go there, too.

Jane, don't you think some conservative Californians might choose to come to Texas? Would you turn them away, too?

Well, to be quite honest, Texas is only a little bit hotter than SoCal in the summer, and there are lots of things that will bite you in Cali.

Californians who hail from outside the big cities would fit right in, in Texas.

Hollywood libs could subsidize it by charging 80 dollars for a movie ticket. Since only libs are interested in watching the idiotic swill coming out of the Hollywood arm of the Ministry of Propaganda these days, libs can bear the brunt of the cost. /sarc

and there is a proposed amendment that in order to have enough taxpayers paying into the DMV-type system, it would be illegal for anyone to purchase health insurance through a private plan. I don't know where this proposal stands.

When I retired from a company in California, I was able to continue my company health insurance plan for a while under COBRA. But during that time, I couldn't find any insurance company doing business in the state that offered individual policies; so I wasn't able to get any individual health insurance until I moved to a state where individual policies were available.

During the Oroville Dam fiasco, one Californian comment on a thread that I read that the lack of maintenance on the dam was typical for California. They seem to just wait for things to become disasters so they can get the federal government to pay for the disaster, rather than to pay for maintenance themselves.

Whether or not that is true, it will be true if they pass this healthcare bill. The entire infrastructure of the state will start to fall apart.

That’s $10K per person per year or about $840 a month per person.

I wonder how much companies, individuals, medicare, medicaid pay in health care insurance right now. I got a feeling it’s not that different cost wise. (Just checked, two years ago the US spent an average $9990 per capita, so I was pretty close)

The problem is that it’ll provide post-office type of service. Rationing will be an issue for sure, and when it’s “free” abuse and waste will be prevalent, and any centralized system will have more corruption.

I don’t mind each state trying different ideas. I wouldn’t want it on a national level, though.

It needs extreme hardship for a decade or two to restore some toughness to the people. There will be no snowflakes in a decade of starvation and deprivation.

EEE, I hope you are correct. But the Brown Clown and his Merry Lampreys have done a lot of things I didn’t think they could get away with.

So how are they going to pay for it?

Who cares about that. The question is how bad will it screw up my health insurance before it goes broke.

I have met and talked with California Lefties. My first impression was of their extreme lack of knowledge. My second was their ability to believe in Unicorns and Fairy Dust. These people are delusional. They will stop at nothing. I see no meaningful fight back by the GOP. Just the usual appeals for funds to win reelection. With this combination - we are doomed!

The Assemble will need to pass a 220% tax rate to fully pay for it.

The way to pay for it is simple. Neglect dams, bridges, and things like that. Declare emergencies whenever something fails and get loads of Federal emergency cash from the Feds. Rinse and repeat.

Good grief! This is being pushed by the California Nurses Association. Even a moron can figure that out why. All those Nurse Practitioner jobs that will be coming their way.

“I wouldn’t mind the California refugees if they wouldn’t come here and vote for the same socialist crap that forced them to flee California.”

You mean like here in Reno where they voted in a increase in the gas tax to pay for roads and a sales tax increase to pay for increased school construction?
