What did the best picture winner Moonlight do at the box office. 22 million?

That’s a bomb.

Well, Hollywood idiots think we should have gone to see a movie about a gay black . To expand our horizons or prove we are liberal or some such nonsense.

My impression is that “art house” type movies tend to win these awards, as opposed to big blockbuster hit movies.

A rare exception would be when a movie such as Titanic comes along, which was a huge blockbuster hit, as well as a winner of many academy awards.

Not really. Like a lot of small "art films", its budget was only $1.5 million. It was actually a good return on its investment. Companies paid more than that for a commercial spot during the Stupor Bowl.

Wish the dying party would take Hollywood with them.

Why anyone would want to give such adoration and unworthy worship to these overpaid, narcissistic “celebrities” is beyond reason. They’re no better than you or I. I really hope their status as the elite is coming to an end. They ought to try on a little humility once. #Notmycelebrity

I saw a poll, in which 60% of respondents couldn’t name a single movie which had been nominated for best picture.

That speaks volumes to me.

How many of us will sit through a 3+ hour awards show, to see who wins awards, for movies we have not seen, have never heard of, and have no desire to see?

Will Moonlight suddenly see a spike in viewings now that it won the Oscar???

I read somewhere they are “very bad books made into bad movies that nobody wants to see.” I’d add to that after these two criteria, the next requirement is “a politically correct theme and a properly diverse cast.”

I haven’t watched one second of the Oscars since the late 1970s....I think that movie “Klute” did it for me.

Affirmative action winner.

Or should I say, virtue-signaling winner.

Or both.

There is an awards show, I forget its name, where it is supposed to recognize "indie" films. However, some years ago, Hollywood decided that the "indie" films should be winning Oscars as well. So, the Academy Awards has become less and less relevant because they are now also giving the awards to indie movies that no one has seen; nor, are they ever going to see.

I am not interested in seeing Moonlight, ever.

The Oscar people think that if they get the right host they will be home free.

Meanwhile, they are force feeding the viewers a steady diet of the superiority of gay love, black is much better and Trump is the infernal enemy.

They only want their own to be feted, but then they need our numbers.

Good luck with that you toads.

Like Eric Cartman said, "Independent Films are just about gay cowboys eating pudding."

I said something similar to hubby over the weekend. I used to watch movies, a lot. But, I simply can't find one that is interesting enough to me, for me to want to go and see it (I did see Rogue One).

I used to know which movies were nominated, what they were about, who was in them. Now, I couldn't tell you anything about what movies were nominated.

I don't think Moonlight was even in a theater in my area. I wouldn't have gone to see it anyway; but, if someone wanted to, they couldn't. they show these movies on the East and West Coast, NYC and LA, and no one else has seen them.

I watched ONE recent Hollywood movie this year, and that was “Sully”.

Crash didn't. No one wanted to see it before it won; and, no one wanted to see it after it had won.

I remember going thru the local Target store about a week after the Oscars and Crash was on the shelf, greatly reduced in price, as the store tried to get rid of the copies of that dog that it had.

I posted this to my FB account with the text "Bwahahahaha!"
all but one of my friends liked or loved it. The other watched the Academy Awards at a movie theater and spent over $30 to do so (Sedona) and replied to me "That's just mean. Movies play such a big part in all our lives!..."

Some people are simply bent on idol-worship and cannot see these twisted celebrities for what they are.
