Well the best Hollywood product is more than just ‘Entertainment for the masses’ and the changes you describe in addition to the fact that the target market is currently China so there is an incentive to make films that are bland and easy to subtitle, means a serious decline in American cultural authority.

was. Guess I just wasn’t paying attention. - I think that
was the one where Janie Fonda showcased the “shag” hairdo.
That was around about the time when my husband fell head
over heels for a “shag” hairdo on legs. :o/
I'd say that it was either planned, or staged for them to call the ending based on audience reaction.

I was continually overseas then. I didn’t return until 1976.
