Just more than a month before the South Carolina Republican presidential primary, many in the state’s GOP leadership are looking for the “anti-Trump.”

They better hurry.

(SNIP)

U.S. Rep. Mick Mulvaney has endorsed Rand Paul. Fellow Congressman Trey Gowdy picked Marco Rubio in December. U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham endorsed Jeb Bush this past week. And, on Wednesday, Gov. Nikki Haley used her nationally televised response to the president’s State of the Union to caution Republicans against the angry rhetoric of her party’s front runner.

Miscellaneous endorsements from various and sundry SC elected officials for Rubio, Bush and Paul......

Haley, Gowdy and Graham.....?

Exactly what has become of the state that begat the match of Ft. Sumter that lit a country on fire?

What the hell are you people eating down there?

Tim Scott doesn’t rock the boat.

That’s why he’s with Rubio.

Cruz has money. Is it true that Cruz has a ground game in SC as good as the game that won IA for him? His IA ground game increased turnout by 157%. Cruz got 21,810 more votes than Santorum in 2012. That’s over 100 votes more per precinct.

I hope so. I like Cruz. I’m not voting for him in the primary here in Georgia (Trump), but I will in the general if that’s how it works out. I am centered on keeping Bush out, Kasich out, Christie out, and RUBIO out (he’s an amnesty snake) of the competition. If Trump wants to keep up, he needs to step up the ground game and concentrate on the RINOs and amnesty snakes.

Nikki Haley is not all that popular in South Carolina

Accused of having two affairs
*******************************************
Accused by two Dem operative idiots who then couldn’t remember when or where it happened. They had announced this just a day or so before the governors election. Real nonsense that should not be spread on FR, For the most part, Haley has been the firewall in SC against the legislature which is loaded with Dems who converted to R to get elected. She is a true conservative. I live here.

Nikki Haley's response to Zero's SOTU was another capitulation. Rubio's being touted now, so that the rug can be pulled out from under him later. BTW, 'later' means 'now'.

Something is definitely not right about SC. They seem to like cheap labor importers.

I live in South Carolina. We are no longer the conservative stronghold we once were. We have been inundated by hispanics coming to work the fields and by yankees escaping the liberal hellholes they made and bringing their politics with them. On top of that we have a sizable number of home grown gibsmedats. Too many of our politicians cater to them, expecting to get some of their votes.

There is a lot of truth in what you say but for all of the posturing people in this state do, SC is GOPe country. There are a lot of older vets and senior citizen republicans who like to go with candidates they are comfortable with aka name recognition and those who won’t rock the boat too much.

Otherwise, how in the hell else do we keep getting the likes of Grahamnesty and Sanford?

The explanation is partly open primaries. The Dems do not own a single statewide office so they have figured out that its better to vote in a Dem Lite type like Graham rather than waste a vote on a Dem Real (loser). Good points though about huge numbers of military retirees who eat up Grahams support the military stump speech.
