Father brings gun to hospital to buy time for his ‘brain dead’ son

HOUSTON — A Texas father has been released from jail after police say he brought a gun to a hospital to stop the staff from taking his son off of life support.

George Pickering II’s son was declared "brain-dead" after he suffered a massive stroke in January. The hospital ordered a "terminal wean" which is a process that slowly ends a person’s life by removing life support. The staff had even notified an organ donation organization that Pickering’s son was a donor.

Pickering, however, wasn’t ready to let go — now, his son, George Pickering III, is still alive and well because of it.

"They were moving too fast. The hospital, the nurses, the doctors," Pickering told KPRC. "I knew if I had three or four hours that night that I would know whether George was brain-dead."

Pickering decided to take matters into his own hands and marched into Tomball Regional Medical Center with a gun.

He admitted to being drunk and aggressive that night but said it was only because he knew there was still some life left in his son.

His son is alive because hos father defended him. This is a case where extreme measures worked. You had better be right, if you take this sort of step.

This reminds me of the scene from A Bridge Too Far- where the Sergeant holds a gun on the doctor until he treats his Lieutenant- then after it’s all over, the Doctor puts him under arrest until the count of 10...1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10.

Organ “donors” are morons who will be put to death so that they can be harvested for organs. Remember, Steve Jobs needs his pancreases and Dick Cheney needs his heart. Now slip into coma and let the “professionals” take care of your generous donation.

As our society continues to descend into Godless socialism, the individual becomes a marketable collection of components and chemicals, which the state will sell to the highest bidder to maintain the infrastructure of the state and the comfort of the ruling class.

The individual and his or her soul mean nothing. Only a means to wealth and power for the privileged few.

Not sure about this. The accusation the father made about the medical staff “moving too fast” is belied by the fact that the boy was on life support in the hospital for an ENTIRE YEAR, since January 2015.

the fact of the matter is the boy recovered, so the father was correct and saved his boys life from the hospital which was going to murder him.

Listen up. The father claimed the medical staff moved “too fast”. You are conveniently overlooking the fact noted in the article that the boy was on life support for an entire year since January 2015. I did it myself and assumed the boy had been just recently admitted. In which case I would have agreed with the father. It’s an easy assumption to make reading an article like this. But it is deadly wrong. Who says anything about a one year death sentence? The hospital staff cared for this patient for an entire year on a 365-day, day-by-day basis. At tremendous cost. Is that your definition of “moving too fast”? Are you a medical doctor that you can second guess the decision the hospital made? Are you out of your mind, or just an early drinker?

An earlier posted article (iirc Daily Mail) also said he ‘marched’ into the hospital. Did he actually ‘march’ or are these journalists getting their dramatic effect lessons from the same place?

If the father is so convinced the son is still able to live then taking off life support should not make a difference. Either he is alive through artificial means or he is not. The father is wrong here. Take off the machines and if he can still breath and has brain activity then he is fine. If not, then he is really dead but kept alive by machines.
