This reminds me of the scene from A Bridge Too Far- where the Sergeant holds a gun on the doctor until he treats his Lieutenant- then after it’s all over, the Doctor puts him under arrest until the count of 10...1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10.

Not sure about this. The accusation the father made about the medical staff “moving too fast” is belied by the fact that the boy was on life support in the hospital for an ENTIRE YEAR, since January 2015.
Sadly, the plug will get pulled when the insurance company stops paying the bills.
An earlier posted article (iirc Daily Mail) also said he ‘marched’ into the hospital. Did he actually ‘march’ or are these journalists getting their dramatic effect lessons from the same place?
If the father is so convinced the son is still able to live then taking off life support should not make a difference. Either he is alive through artificial means or he is not. The father is wrong here. Take off the machines and if he can still breath and has brain activity then he is fine. If not, then he is really dead but kept alive by machines.
You should read the version of the story from the day before.

They were in a hurry to pull the plug because the child was an organ donor. They need to get those organs from living people, because once you die, the organs are unusable. So they can only get them from situations where someone is still alive, but comatose/unresponsive.
If he hadn’t been an organ donor, I have no doubt they would have been happy to keep him on life support for as long as the insurance would pay for it.

If someone came into your home and was about to murder one of your family, wouldn’t most people at least threaten to shoot the perp, if not actually gun them down?
Nothing to see here except a technical violation of the CHL law. Glad he was released...wish that I was on the jury when this comes up for trial, but I’m no where near Houston.
I was an organ donor for decades. I changed that in the last decade due to the propensity of hospitals to make decisions based on organ harvesting.
