CNN Talks Up Biden, Inaccurately Dismisses Plagiarism History

On Friday's New Day, CNN regulars talked up the possibility of Vice President Joe Biden jumping into the presidential race, with co-host Chris Cuomo declaring that "We have no secret here that we have been pushing Joe Biden to get into the race because we want as many voices as possible to help voters make their decision."

Additionally, as the group discussed Donald Trump's recent jab at the Vice President's history of plagiarism, Cuomo misleadingly referred to the crack as "taking it back to law school," and CNN political reporter Sara Murray dismissed the issue as "some old accusations from law school." But, while he was running for President in 1988, Biden was found to have lifted extensively from the speech of a British politician, and from other speakers as well.

At about 6:03 a.m., Cuomo brought up the scenario of a Biden run:

IIRC, Biden lifted his stump speech from a hard left British demagogue named Neil Kinnick.

And by lifted, I mean almost word for word.

I wonder if Biden feels like a spare tire?

If they can’t patch up Hillary, he’ll do!

LOL! It's a given that nobody will ever "lift" any portions of a Biden speech.

Joe Biden plagiarised Neil Kinnock speech
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/barackobama/2607505/Joe-Biden-plagiarised-Neil-Kinnock-speech.html
11:47AM BST 23 Aug 2008

The speech by Mr Kinnock, as he desperately tried to remodel and rebuild the Labour Party, was widely judged to be a dramatic and powerful piece of political rhetoric - making it particularly tempting, but also unusually unwise, for Mr Biden to borrow its most significant passage without attribution to the British politician.

NEIL KINNOCK at Welsh Labour Party conference May 1987:

“Why am I the first Kinnock in a thousand generations to be able to get to university? Was it because our predecessors were thick? Does anybody really think that they didn’t get what we had because they didn’t have the talent or the strength or the endurance or the commitment? Of course not. It was because there was no platform upon which they could stand”

JOE BIDEN IN Sept 1987 during his first presidential campaign:

“Why is it that Joe Biden is the first in his family ever to go a university? Why is it that my wife... is the first in her family to ever go to college? Is it because our fathers and mothers were not bright? ...Is it because they didn’t work hard? My ancestors who worked in the coal mines of northeast Pennsylvania and would come after 12 hours and play football for four hours? It’s because they didn’t have a platform on which to stand.”

As scary as it is, Biden may be the “best” candidate they have who has any legitimate shot of winning. Things are not good in Democratland. Hopefully the rest of America realizes that.

...we want as many voices as possible to help voters make their decision."

Really? Then why are you always mocking how many Republicans are running for President?

Oh. Right. Because you're CNN. That's what you do. You have one set of standards for 'RATS and another for Republicans.

Sometimes I think if it wasn't for double-standards, the Men Seeking Men mediums would have no standards at all.

Someone wrote they're trying to dust off Gore as well...They're figuring out if there's a path financially and politically,'... BUT...'cautioned not to overstate Gore's interest.' It said he has not made any formal or informal moves to join the race, has not met with political advisers about a potential run and did not comment to the media outlet about making a bid.

I’d give my next few paychecks to see Trump deck Biden after Slow Joe paws one of the Trump women, preferably at some black tie event.
