TALLAHASSEE, Fla.
In the wake of the deadly shootings at two Tennessee military centers, Gov. Rick Scott has signed an executive order meant to protect and arm members of the Florida National Guard.
In the executive order signed Saturday, Scott wants "to ensure that all qualified full-time Guardsmen are adequately armed for their personal protection."
The order calls for expedited processing of concealed weapons permits for Florida Guardsmen.

I’m starting to send a trend of individual protection matters to enhance organizational protection.
The AD force continues to rely on the organization to protect the individuals...
Good for Scott. He gets most things right.
Jihadis will now avoid the Florida National Guard.
“Qualified”
Last I remember, every single one is required to demonstrate proficiency with both a rifle and pistol, maybe a shotgun.
LOL You’re joking right. All they are plumbers, roofers, etc with a uniform and I have been on the range with them and they are frigging awful at shooting , well most of them anyway.
That’s all well and good, but how about open carry on our military bases?
Why are our armed forced unarmed. What the hell is that all about?
Right now we would even take “frigging awful” over naked to any terrorist who waltzes up.
I am so glad he won reelection. I was a little nervous with the whole fan thing that Crist did. Thankfully Floridians voted for the right person.
Agreed. It is b.s..
= :^)
The Executive Order specifically says "full-time" guardsmen. That would probably narrow the field substantially. But, it's a start I suppose.
Hey! Don’t tell that to Juan Williams, who is on record as saying:
“Not in my strip malls, they won’t!”
528 plumbers and roofers died in Iraq and Afghanistan as a direct result of hostile activity while protecting your sorry ass.
Just saying.
That’s four states now - Arkansas, Texas, Oklahoma and Florida - right? What about the other 53, or did I miss some?
When are you going to fumigate Florida’s sanctuary cities, Rick?
Don’t leave it to Blondie—She’s already shown her RINO colors.
I doubt Gov. Scott has that authority. Military bases are federal property.

I had to demonstrate proficiency with a shot gun too, 12 gauge - 1963.
So far TX, AR and Fl. I am waiting for Nathan DEal to step up here in GA.
I agree with that, and I didn’t mean to imply he should do something. I think it’s reasoned for folks to take away that I did. I realized he couldn’t change that. Probably should have mentioned it.
