I’ll see the movie because I think the subject, the real sniper, is worth it as is his story.
I commented on some very short audio clips in the trailer, something very many here seem to think is absolute heresy, very incomprehensibly in my opinion because I thought the actor’s accent seemed a bit thick and overacted based on what I’ve heard in my lifetime here. I have cousins who still say ‘maters’ for tomatoes (when they’re making mayonnaise and tomato sandwiches), for example - and that is real.
For all practical purposes, I might as well been calling southerners ranting, idiot morons, even those ancestors in my family here in Georgia dating back to Georgia’s earliest days.
Clint Eastwood needs an Academy Award like a hole in the head. He has what really counts in life.....the American people in his corner, by the millions!!!! As for actor, Bradley Cooper, he joins the company of forever great heroic American actors, like, James Stewart, Geroge C. Scott, Clark Gable, Robert Duval, Mark Wahlberg, Gary Sinese, John Wayne, and many, many more....that prove that American individual, courage, loyalty, devotion and love of our great country makes a difference, even in the most trying & difficult circumstances.
Bradley Cooper does not know it...yet,,,,but he now moves into the hearts and mind of millions of Americans, who wil forever be thankful for his magnificent, effort and contribution to the forever, great “American Sniper” movie. It also needs no award. it is is the great film of 2014-15...hands down!!! The American people’s top choice!!!
It also tells me that there is a seething rage building against those using terror to advance their political and religious objectives. When that rage hits the boiling point there will be no mercy for the enemy.
Cowboys ride their horses, and rednecks ride their cousins.
I think it is because this movie is the first real patriotic movie in a long time and they are taking it personally. You are allowed your opinion to a movie. Enjoy the film....you won’t be sorry. Also have a great rest of the weekend!!!
I havent seen the movie but from what Ive seen in trailers, Bradley Cooper comes off sounding like a redneck good ole boy (linguistically)- and badly in my opinion. Is the rest of his portrayal like this?
An honest observation based on my experience followed with a question about what the REST of the portrayal was like.
Some here have been understanding and gave me a plethora of examples and links and thoughtful responses.
Yet you just question my motives and insinuate I'm trying to badmouth the movie and the subject..
Let’s hope the idiot populace is finally getting it
You are displaying your northern liberal lunacy
I don’t understand the controversy over the accent. I haven’t seen the movie yet, but based on the trailers, I was surprised at how good the guy’s accent is. He sounds like some of my neighbors.
Just saw a preview with a playboy bunny looking Marine on house to house in Baghdad. Not.....
American Sniper = Friday/Saturday/Sunday Revenue - $90,000,000. Does not include $16,000,000 in foreign revenue and, the upcoming MLK Holiday, Monday revenue. American Sniper will top over $120,000,000 for the four days it has been in wide release!!!
The Oprah Winfrey/Barack Hussein Obama/Sharpton/Soros/Holder/De Blasio/ CBC/NAACP.Democrat Party, “Obamabot, thug, would be cop killer, “Michael Brown” flick, “Selma” gets no mention, revenue wise...it is in the revenue, failure toilet. The winds of change are a’blowin’ in the USA!!! Sad!!! Martin Luther KIng, Jr. was both a great American man and geat American leader. He does not deserve what Obama’s Black Racists and America Haters have done to him!!! Black Americans...adrift at sea with no viable leadership in sight!!!
Good for you for snapping back. Odd that on this site of all places, an opinion that stands apart from the rush of lemmings is flamed. I read the book. In his own words, Kyle doesn’t come off so well, either. In his own words, people. Nothing to do with his patriotism or his performance of duty and devotion to duty. He had some messed up priorities. In his own words.
Served with guys like this in two combat tours, so don’t start with that other thing. I know men like him to be indispensable. But messed up. In his own words.
He was a combat hero. A patriot. Faced more dangerous moments than I ever did, trained harder, was a SEAL. God bless him and especially the family he left behind. But . . .
... truth be told, the movie Selma was viewed mostly by “racis’s”...
He won best director for Unforgiven.
At least, one can hope.
I guess I should have clarified that he wasn’t nominated for Best Director for American Sniper, but being nominated for Best Picture for American Sniper was an honor itself.
When you say african-American, do you mean black?
My neighbor was a white retired newspaper man born and raised in Johannesburg S. Africa. I don’t know a single person who referred to him as an African American. The term refers to blacks only. And why do the hyphen people put America second?
There is no controversy. One person has said he thought the accent was not done well. That’s his opinion and he has a right to it ... but that doesn’t constitute a ‘controversy’.
I thought the accent was done well, based on what little I heard in the trailer. But others are certainly entitled to hear differently.
Hearing about a movie called “SELMA” and before reading the reviews, I thought it would be about Selma Diamond!
