In Oklahoma, Wearing Your Hoodie In Public Could Soon Bring A $500 Fine
The Inquisitr ^ | January 3, 2015

An Oklahoma lawmaker has introduced a bill that would make wearing a hoodie — the popular cold-weather garment that protects your face and head from the elements — a crime punishable by a fine of up to $500, KFOR (Oklahoma City) is reporting.

Ostensibly, the proposed hoodie ban is meant to make Oklahoma safer from people who would conceal their identity, but civil liberties groups argue the ban is little more than another means of racial profiling.

Establishments can enforce dress codes,i.e., no hats, hoodies, masks or sun glasses. That's sufficient.

It would be like NYC Stop and Frisk. It's unconstitutional and it works.

“Unbelievable! Are they going to fine old white women who were those ‘hoodies’, which is nothing more than a sweatshirt jacket with a zipper and a hood?”

They will not fine old white women who wear hoodies the they will not arrest the thousands of students in Norman who wear OU hoodies on a cold day.

But, if someone wears a Longhorn Hoodie in Norman, they will arrest him and send him to Death Row.

The courts correctly decided the honest had no need for face masks, Burqa, or hoodies.

Yea good for you if you live in Florida. But I have been wearing some type of hooded item in the Midwest winters since the 50's and I don't care what some idiotic judges and you think is correct.

Well, if this law comes to my state, I might be going to jail. LOL

I have owned Hoodies for most of my life. I wear them when walking the beaches, camping and while at the coast in general.

My son gave me a new black Hoodie on my last birthday...I turned 66. I call it my Looting jacket. I carry my Seecamp 32 auto in the right belly pocket.

This country is changing all around me and people like me.... I will not be changing a damn thing.

In my town wearing a hoodie, mask, or any other kind of face cover, into the wrong store could get a 38 caliber round heading your way. Just takes a few incidents of hoodlums trying to hide in their clothing to make folks jumpy. Let’s see who pushes their luck and tries for the whole 500 bucks? For my own part you do not want to sneak up on me-—be standing tall and spouting ya’ll or your attitude could get quickly adjusted-——Semper Fi

The proposed Oklahoma hoodie ban (21 OS 1301) makes it a crime to wear a mask, hood, or other facial covering, either during the commission of a crime, or to intentionally conceal your identify when in a public place, according to Russia Today.

That doesn't sound as if it's meant to be a blanket proscription on the wearing of hoodies per se. Only if you use them when committing a crime, or trying to conceal your identity in a public place. Of course the latter could be broadly interpreted.

This is a fine idea as long as it is only in effect from late April till mid September. And a blanket exemption for people in small towns out feeding cattle, hunters and such.

“Unbelievable! Are they going to fine old white women who were those ‘hoodies’”

Psssst,,, it ain’t aimed at little old ladies headed home from church. No, they will be just fine. Its aimed at protecting little old ladies. Have a little sense. Its a common part of law in many states that wearing a mask is a problem. This is the same thing.
