Did you not get that this was the Oklahoma legislature? I am not them. I’ve just pointed out that there is precedence for this, with at least an even chance that a hoodie prohibition could withstand court scrutiny. But not if combined with a very different law about hijabs, which would be a lot tougher to get through the courts.

Anti-KKK mask laws have been around since the 1920s, and still exist in I believe about 15 states. And as recently as 2004, such a law was upheld by the US Supreme Court.

This does not reflect any opinion from me whether it is a good law or not.

An unfortunate waste of the taxpayer’s dollars.

What a bunch of crap - they know that if they make it illegal to manufacture or sell them, they will be taken to court so fast their heads will spin off their shoulders.<p.More unconstitutional tripe by some “feel good” politicians. Must be the same ones who want to use the “Federal Law Trumps All” meme to pressure Colorado to stop with the pot.

But, of course, any government employees wearing masks will be exempt from the law.

Because government employees would *never* be tempted to commit crimes while their identity is concealed.

“The chair of the Oklahoma’s public safety committee introduced the bill, state senator Don Barrington (R), said that this would make “it unlawful to wear a mask, hood or covering during the commission of a crime or to intentionally conceal a person’s identity in a public place.”

A liberty-reducing Republican. We could do with fewer of those in office.

Well, the courts are in agreement that if a mere mundane is wearing a face-concealing masks, he may not be an honest man/woman.

They typically turn a blind eye to masked government employees, even in circumstances surrounding the commission of a crime.
