Can you imagine someone traveling in a hoodie, and has to get gas there, and has no idea there is a $500. fine....
I think this may be one of the stupidest bills ever proposed....that a piece of clothing being banned would prevent crime.
CJ is my field and seriously, the idea is so bizarre, it’s scary that legislators would even consider it.
Is that coach in the middle of committing a crime?
What about burqas — are they banned, too?
You can call the police right now if you feel threatened by someone. Hoodie or no hoodie. They're gonna show up in about 10 minutes. We've got some pretty solid carry and conceal laws. That's a way better option.
I guarantee you .... it will not become law in Oklahoma.
This is a resoundingly stupid idea.
A bandit wearing a mask is a far cry from someone wearing a jacket with a hood. Gee Whiz, where is the common sense?
The point, is that there’s nothing wrong with North Carolina’s law which is even more strict. In Oklahoma, you have to be doing it with the intent to commit a crime or to use it as a disguise.
NC just bans it straight out if it does conceal you.

Those opposing this as racist are racists. I am white as wonder and wear a hoodie many days in the cold.
That said, those proposing this bill are limousine liberals that never have to go out in the cold.

I agree with you. I’m 72, white and have a hoodie that I wear when running errands during cold windy days or when it’s drizzling rain. Many other non-black folks here in North Central TX do the same.
Simple solution is just to require that people take the hood off of their heads when inside any store/business.

You don’t live here I bet, since 99% of young people in NC wear a hooded jacket from time to time. If you look at the picture in this link, you will understand what our lawmakers are talking about. Again, common sense is missing in the interpretation.

Section 1301. It shall be unlawful for any person in this state to : A. To wear a mask, hood or covering, which conceals the identity of the wearer during the commission of a crime or for the purpose of coercion, intimidation or harassment; or B. To intentionally conceal his or her identity in a public place by means of a robe, mask, or other disguise. provided Provided, the provisions of Section 1301 et seq. of this title shall not apply to the pranks of children on Halloween, to those going to, or from, or participating in masquerade parties, to those participating in any public parade or exhibition of an educational, religious or historical character, to those wearing coverings required by their religious beliefs, for safety or medical purposes, or incidental to protection from the weather, to those participating in any meeting of any organization within any building or enclosure wholly within and under the control of said organization, and to those participating in the parades or exhibitions of minstrel troupes, circuses, sporting groups, mascots or other amusements or dramatic shows. Any person, or persons, violating the provisions of this section, shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof, shall be punished by a fine of not less than Fifty Dollars ($50.00) nor more than Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00), or by imprisonment in the county jail for a period of not exceeding one (1) year, or by both such fine and imprisonment.

The law is on your books. If they ignore it, that’s fine I guess. But its nothing out of the ordinary. And its more strict that Oklahoma’s. Now get up off the fainting couch.
