A 93-year-old Central Texas woman was fatally shot at her home by a police officer when after she allegedly brandished a gun, the Hearne Police Department said Wednesday.
Pearlie Golden, a longtime resident of Hearne who was affectionately known to her neighbors as Ms. Sully, was shot Tuesday night by Officer Steven Stem, Robertson County District Attorney Coty Siegert said. Stem was responding to a 911 call about a disturbance involving a woman with a gun.

um, no dog?
(ok, it was my turn)
The important thing is that he was able to go home safe and sound. [/s]
at least he went home safe to his loved ones.....sarc

Yes, and he also has been given the standard bonus paid vacation (known as “administrative leave” to our governmental overlords).
Not good.
Been providing assistance to senile people for many years. Wouldnt want one to have a gun.
a 93 year old with a gun or behind the wheel of a car is as deadly as any criminal. Innocent, yes, but deadly.
a disturbance from a 93 year old with a gun sounds like a senile old woman unable to follow orders to drom the gun.
Too bad her kids didn’t see this coming.
Taking away the keys to the car, moving mom into one’s home, or a facility is part of it. A 93 year old with need of a gun for protection, sorry, is a 93 year old in need of a family to take care of her.
If the cops were totally wrong here, I’ll take it back.
Carnival, Norwegian or Celebrity Cruise Lines?
When these cops are made examples of, this will become rare
I wouldn’t have done that... My mom died at 94, but not of a gunshot. I would submit that even if she had evil in her heart, at 93 she couldn’t hit the broadside of a barn.
I hope he’s proud...
Is this the leo that killed her?
“Allegedly” killed her.
That’s a boy with all the latest toys.
Where are the men?
Welcome to 2014.
“You just can’t take no chances with a 93 year old woman, they move like greased lightning, strike faster than a rattlesnake, so you can’t just shoot em once. I bet the bugger unloaded his weapon on her screaming like a little girl. BRANDISH: to wave or flourish (something, especially a weapon) as a threat or in anger or excitement. I bet she was just holding it in her shaking hands and he pissed his pants. Barney Fife unloaded on a 93 year old woman, what a man!
Yup, that’s why i just can’t wait to move to TexASS (Not)! Besides $hitty weather, snakes and bugs; their LEO’s all have size 44 coveralls and size 4 hats. From my infrequent visits to Texas, I have come to understand that Cops there are a bunch of Neanderthals with guns. No thanks!
Exactly.Twenty years in medicine + having to go through it with our Dad suggests that as a likely explanation.
Taking away the keys to the car, moving mom into ones home, or a facility is part of it.
That's what we had to do with our Dad.He wound up living in my home for the last 6 years of his life as he slowly deteriorated mentally and physically
If the cops were totally wrong here, Ill take it back.
It seems possible that the cop was partially wrong, probably because of lack of experience and/or training with such a situation.I used to work for a neuropathologist and you can bet your bottom dollar that there'll be an autopsy and hopefully her brain will be closely examined by an experienced neuropathologist. Her medical and psychiatric history should be closely studied as well.My money's on at least one major red flag turning up indicating a medical explanation for her behavior.
He will get paid but the time but it will not count as time served. It will affect his seniority, his pay grade, his time served needed to qualify his promotional exams.
