Judge: Foreigners can sue U.S. pastor over sermons [Religious Freedom is Dead]
WorldNetDaily ^ | 08/15/13 | Bob Unruh

A federal judge has backed a homosexual-rights group in its claim that members were injured by an American pastor’s biblical preaching in Uganda against homosexual behavior.

But the ruling from Judge Michael Posner in a case brought by Sexual Minorities Uganda against Pastor Scott Lively of Abiding Truth Ministries could mean much more. It could establish that an international consensus disavowing long-held biblical standards could trump the U.S. Constitution.

2 Thessalonians 2:3

3 Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin[b] is revealed, the son of perdition,

And Christ declares: “Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity” (Matthew 7:22, 23).

These apostates of whom Christ speaks did not lose their salvation, they were never “saved” to begin with (”I never knew you”). Yet they outwardly appeared to be high-profile Christian leaders apparently performing miraculous signs and wonders in the name of Christ. They didn’t leave the church to become atheists or to join some non-Christian religion. They remained in the church. They even called Jesus Lord-but without really knowing Him. Tragically, they seemed to think that their ability to prophesy and to perform wonders proved that they belonged to Him. Clearly, doctrine is out and emotional experience is in; and the signs and wonders are so impressive that doctrine no longer matters.

The mere prospect of a lawsuit will effectively shut people up.

The definition of SLAPP (Strategic Lawsuit Against Public Participation) designed to use the expense of court cases to intimidate dissent. It should be the JUDGE to see this coming and dismiss the case as 'without standing' which in this case meets the 1st Amendment requirements for the GOVERNMENT to not forbid free expression of speech and religion!

I don’t understand: If the sermon took place in Uganda, how can an American court have standing here?

Did Corrie Ten Boom believe that there would be NO rapture, or did she just deny the pre-tribulation rapture?

If she says “no rapture,” she is dead wrong.

Her point was that people weren’t prepared for the persecution, they were taught they would be exempt and thus were unprepared. If you lived what she lived, you would say the same thing.

Not really. I read the back of “the book.” They lose. Big time. Keep the faith.

Amen!

Belief in being raptured and being prepared for persecution are not mutually exclusive. In fact, the former provides the latter.

Not seeing an actual problem here if we’re being told the whole story and all the preacher did was preach. The defence against dumbass stuff like this is to counter-sue every bunghollio nitwit involved in trumping up the claim. Sue them for harrassment. Sue them for defamation. Sue them for wasting oxygen and whatever else is apparent but sue their hip pockets off.

Remember when all the homos wanted was to have the government out of their bedroom? How did that evolve into Government enforced condoning of sodomy?

This is one of those cases that many lawyers would jump on, simply to have an appellate win. It is almost a freebie, especially with the hoops and trips that the judge went through on his decision. And I’d almost bet that the lawyer would cross his fingers that it was held up on appeal, so they could go to the SCOTUS for the smackdown.

It's just that the SCOTUS doesn't have to take any case it doesn't want to take.

What difference does it make? The Constitution means nothing anymore. Both Democrats and Republicans have so distorted the meanings that they have interpreted the Constitution to give them the power to do anything.

But wouldn't have surprised me in the least if it had been H.W. Bush's appointment. He was a closet liberal.

I draw no distinction between GHW Bush and Bill Clinton. I didn't vote for either one of them. They are one in the same.

An anti-Christian ruling by an anti-Christian judge. We should not be surprised; the federal judiciary is polluted with them. Starting with the Supreme Court : Breyer, Kagan, Ginsberg, Kennedy, Soto-Major.
The First Amendment is under attack. I fear only the Second Amendment can save us. For the first time in my life, I fear civil conflict will come to America.

[Now, what any homo-group thinks now trumps our freedoms.]

But what they [transhumanist/postgenderists] think will never trump several billion years worth of biological human reproductive fact.

If we still had a Republic, I might hope for the equivalent of the Skopes monkey trial with with human reproductive fact as the defendent.... IF we still had a Republic.
