Rep. Peter King says Al Qaeda threat is 'very specific' as US issues travel alert

The Al Qaeda threat that prompted the State Department to issue a worldwide travel alert and close down 21 embassies and consulates for the weekend is serious and 'very specific,' Rep. Peter King, chairman of the Subcommittee on Counterterrorism and Intelligence, said Friday.

“We’re not certain exactly where something might happen but it’s very specific as to when and it’s also very specific as to the fact that it is going to happen, so we have to be on alert everywhere,” the New York Republican told WINS-AM.

The travel alert was the first of its kind since an announcement preceding the tenth anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. It came as Washington prepared to close its embassies and consulates throughout the Muslim world this Sunday over security concerns.

U.S. officials have not offered many details on the nature of the threat, but apparently are taking it seriously.

A White House official said Friday night President Obama was being updated on "a potential threat occurring in or emanating from the Arabian Peninsula."

Why should we believe King or anyone else in this government?

I don't trust King (and he's my congressman).

I believe he knew that Benghazi was a terrorist attack while Obama and Hillary were saying it was a spontaneous demonstration caused by a movie.

Add to that King supported Bill Clinton back during his impeachment.

That was my first thought when I saw King becoming the public face/salesman for this latest warning. Whether or not anything happens, we'll all be told how critical it is for the NSA to continue its data collection of domestic communications, and anyone who opposes it is unwittingly supporting the terrorists.

When nothing has happened by Monday morning, we can all celebrate the great success of the NSA domestic spying program.

Benghazi has taught Obama that if you won’t stand and fight your only option is to run and hide. Fortunately for him, his liberal base admires cowardice.

BS There is no Al Qaeda. Obama said so. Meantime he is sending them weapons in Syria, so they can kill Christians.

And John McCain is on board for it!.
