Rep. King Slams Senate on Immigration

Wednesday, May 10, 2006 9:31 p.m. EDT

The national outrage over the government's failure to stop illegal immigration has not caught hold in the Senate, says Rep. Peter King, R-N.Y.

"There going to use this term 'immigration reform,' and their idea of immigration reform is to throw a few things, a few nods towards border security without being serious about it," he said.

King, chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, told Lou Dobbs Wednesday night that the Senate's way of getting rid of 10 million of the 11 million illegal immigrants now in the United States is to legalize them.

"I think the Senate is going to come up with legislation that will legalize them, and it's going to lead to citizenship -- if that's not amnesty I don't know what you'd call it. I think it's a real disconnect between the American people on one hand and the mainstream media and the senators on the other."

Recently, Rep. King (R-IA) published a scathing condemnation of the illegal alien marches and denounced the "invaders" who are pouring over our borders.

In that statement, Rep. King gave the following statistics on the number of Americans killed every day by illegal aliens. I've added the annual totals in for effect:

"What would that May 1st look like without illegal immigration? There would be no one to smuggle across our southern border the heroin, marijuana, cocaine, and methamphetamines that plague the United States, reducing the U.S. supply of meth that day by 80%. The lives of 12 U.S. citizens would be saved who otherwise die a violent death at the hands of murderous illegal aliens each day [4,380 Annually]. Another 13 Americans would survive who are otherwise killed each day by uninsured drunk driving illegals [4,745 Annually]. Our hospital emergency rooms would not be flooded with everything from gunshot wounds, to anchor babies, to imported diseases to hangnails, giving American citizens the day off from standing in line behind illegals. Eight American children would not suffer the horror as a victim of a sex crime. [2,920 Annually]

Shut the borders first and then make a deal with those working hard.

Give the rest of the freeloaders a swift kick back to tacoland.

When Republicans get the message their poll numbers will surge!!

Those in the Senate who don't seek to actively stop this fraud on the American people can kiss my butt.

And they can note that the numbers of people who feel like me are growing to be a strong enough minority to be fearful of in elections.

"What would that May 1st look like without illegal immigration?"

On May 1st, as a result of the Mexican boycott, national retail stores reported that sales for the day dropped 4.2%.

However, there was a 77.8% reduction in shoplifting.

Yes. It is Rep. Peter King. There are at least two Rep. Kings who are Republicans in Congress right now. The other Rep. King who is hot on the illegal immigration issue is Rep. Steve King of Iowa. He's the one I quoted in Post #1. Yes, I had the two of them confused for a moment there.

This is akin to lowering test scores so that more kids pass and then touting the passing percentage. Except that this is much, much worse.

Rep. Steve King of Iowa has just completed 4 days on the Mexican border. He may be on C-Span this evening.

Shut the borders first and then make a deal with those working hard.

What part of ILLEGAL don't you understand?

By not enforcing the law, making deals and pandering to those who have no regard for laws that civilized people live by, has created this mess in the first place.

Make a deal?  HELL NO!

The national outrage over the government's failure to stop illegal immigration has not caught hold in the Senate, says Rep. Peter King, R-N.Y.

As usual, the Senate lives in its own feudal bubble.

The Republican Senators need to understand something very clearly. I no longer trust them. I haven't for a long time. I no longer am inspired by their rhetoric, because they don't practice the conservatism rhetoric they preach to win elections. I am not afraid of Democrats. I fear what they would do. Of course. But a RINO's agenda isn't too dissimiliar. I know my enemies' beliefs. Democrats, yes, so too McCain and his band. You say Kennedy & Reid in charge of the Senate? I retort with McCain & Specter in control of the Senate.

Secure the Borders. Break the filibuster. ANWR passage. Actual spending Cuts. Do it. Do it now. Quit wasting my time spinning or fear monegring. I'm no longer listening to the rhetoric. Action speaks louder.
