Archeologists conducting excavations at the site of a church in Turkey have unearthed a stone chest containing a relic that may be part of the cross on which Jesus was crucified.

The items were discovered during a large-scale excavation at the Balatlar Church, which was built in A.D. 660 near the Black Sea, Today's Zaman reported.

Professor Gülgün Köroğlu, an associate professor at Turkey's Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University and excavation leader, told the newspaper the artifacts are linked to Jesus' crucifixion.

What I want to know is was there a Cross-Maker Shop , and why did they build it so far from the location of the crucifixions ?

Was Jesus the only one who had to carry his own cross ?

Although there seem to be several explanations for the H, the simplest, and most plausible one I have found is that it stood for HOLY, as in using the phrase HOLY CHRIST.

It seems to be a combination of Jesus Christ and Holy Christ when used in an exclamatory manner.

Yes. Very intriguing. Some stuff was easy to predict. Other things not so much.

Well.... at least you get it. Many others have this knee jerk reaction to the comedian's routine, yet they have no problem with scaring away vampires with a cross, as if it had magic power.

Probably due to zoning restrictions.

Don’t forget Mary Magdelene’s toe. I saw it myself in France! True story, I saw something and it was claimed to be MM’s toe.

“...as if the symbol itself had some kind of power, such as in exorcisms...”

It makes perfect sense that satan or a demon would be reminded of Christ and His sacrifice by seeing a crucifix and be overcome by the thought of Christ’s power over demons/satan. Demons have an intellect, and the sight of a cross would cause them to associate it with their nemesis, Christ, and become very agitated at the reminder of Christ’s absolute power over them/all evil.
