ORLANDO — Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. strongly condemned so-called “Stand Your Ground” laws here Tuesday in a speech to the NAACP that addressed the acquittal of George Zimmerman in the killing of Trayvon Martin.

The laws “sow dangerous conflict in our neighborhoods,” Holder said, by “allowing – and perhaps encouraging – violent situations to escalate in public.”

Attorney General Eric Holder condemns ‘Stand Your Ground’ laws

Just like he condemns the constitution and freedom!

Holder needs to be "fast and furious" on this one!

It wasn’t. Holder is either being disingenuous, or ignorant, or both.

“Stand Your Ground” is only a part of what this is all about:

The leftists do NOT want you to have the right to defend your self, your family, and your property.

I think Holder is trying to do a little rhetorical sleight of hand here. He can't file Civil Rights charges, or they would surely get thrown out, or even worse, the would lose that trial as well; so he's blaming the Zimmerman verdict on something that isn't accurate.

This way, he can condemn the verdict, but sort of hide behind the law.

And in typical fashion, the force-fed audience will eat it up.

Ever hear the saying “Never let a good crisis go to waste”?

This is the Obama administration using a tragedy to push an agenda that has been rejected at the ballot box. It’s also an end-run around the 10th amendment. They see a wonderful opportunity to take completely unrelated issue and force through what they see as the perfect solution while emotions run high.

Those in Washington do not want an armed citizenry, nor do they want “ordinary” people being able to use deadly force to defend themselves. They envision a utopian society where only the government has weapons which changes us from citizens to subjects. You will kindly recall the quote from an Obama staffer after the 2008 election where she said “Obama is ready to rule”. It was dismissed as a poor choice of words, but the connect-the-dots are striking. Presidents GOVERN. Kings “RULE”. Kings also make damned sure that their SUBJECTS must OBEY them. Citizens employ a leader to represent them. Kings rule over obedient subjects. Get it?

Mr. Obama, supposedly a constitutional law professor, is well aware that in this country, the government derives its just powers from the CONSENT OF THE GOVERNED. Obama clearly doesn’t care for this arrangement. The very concept that the consent for him to be in the White House could be taken away as a brutal affront to his “rule”.

In a sovereign / subject scenario, the government gets its powers from God himself, and the subjects deal with it. There is no protest or attempt at change because it;s not allowed for. The second amendment keeps bad guys **AND** the government in check. It was brilliantly designed along with the other checks and balances that we hold dear, and that Obama clearly despises. He chastises the Supreme Court. He appoints “czars”. If he doesn’t get what he wants from congress, he puts it in place by executive order. This “constitutional law professor” absolutely hates the concept of separation of powers. He sees the judiciary as a group who should do his bidding, and congress and a bunch that should be lapdogs, pencil-whipping through what King Barack wants.

And it will continue to get worse before it gets any better. Ready for president Hillary???

WITHHOLDER says he can’t stand STAND OUR GROUND LAWS but insisted he saw nothing wrong with RACIAL PROFILING OF POLITICAL OPPONENTS. Lying and withholding information from congress to dodge subpoenas. Not prosecuting any black person period. And paying back whitie for keeping his people down.

You got to look at it from his point of view. He is not and will not be one of the ones terrorized. The barbarians will share their loot from those terrorized with him.

Courtesy of the voters, America became a banana republic November 6, 2912. Governor bestowed Banana Republic status to the State of Florida in 2013 with the George Zimmerman attempted lynching.

If you look for anything good and decent to come out of the Obama regime, you are only deluding yourself.

I used to think that talk of civil war 2 was crazy...now not so sure with the Feds sounding more like a foreign power every day.

Don,

I’ve been seeing this build up for nearly thirty-five years. It’s been a slow incremental tension building exercise all of that time. Today I think that the ones pushing this are confident that they can light the fuse for all out conflict.

The interesting thing is that if they just stopped pushing the Meme that within two years all would be calm again. I saw that happen in the Late 1970’s when the same thing was occurring and the Race-riots were a very fresh memory.

Stand Your Ground law was not part of the case. His defense was self defense.

They are intentionally misrepresenting(LYING!) that the case was about Stand Your Ground because that is the law they want to attack.

Never let a crisis go to waste.

I posted it before and I’ll post it again: this case was not about Zimmerman/Martin; it was always about ginning up the public for support for increased gun control measures. And stand your ground - even though it was not an issue, although the left kept trying to make it an issue - will be the first casualty, unless we are all very vigilant.

Before the SYG and Castle Doctrine laws came into being, you had a legal responsibility to make every effort to retreat and avoid confrontation. Only if you were cornered and in fear for your life could you then use deadly force to protect yourself.
George Zimmerman was on his back, with a 200# assailant on top of him, getting his head pounded into the pavement. He couldn't retreat even if he wanted to. Even if there were no such thing as a SYG law, he was justified in using deadly force to protect himself.

I am so confused now. Zimmerman didn’t use a “stand your ground” defense. Didn’t it not even apply, seeing as the shooting was self-defense? What is Holder (and everyone else for that matter) smoking?

The original purpose of hyping the Zimmerman case was to provide a test case for striking down "Stand Your Ground".

The fact that the Zimmerman team didn't use SYG as part of the defense argument is irrelevant to the plan.

Someone should inform Holder that predecessors to Stand your Ground laws were the basis for successful self-defense against the KKK.

So called ‘Stand Your Ground’ laws do not force thugs into criminal acts. It does allow the attempted victims to fight back. If these feral animals attempt to rob, injure or kill any law abiding or not so law abiding citizen, these ferals deserve the injury or death they bring upon themselves.

Yup, it’s not the beat downs by young black thugs at rates and order of magnitude greater than others, it’s defending yourself from the beat down that’s the problem.
