After reading the article, there are two possibilities:
(1) The Sherrif destroyed records to protect a “friend of his.” Unlikely but possible.
(2) The Sherrif abided his oath to uphold and defend the Constituion. And is being punished for it. Likely.

I just got wind of this. An odd story. Not good that Gov. Scott has gotten himself involved.
I have a feeling there is more to this story than is being told here.

A governor arresting a sheriff. As the Rat Pack used to say,
“Wild man, wild”.

The Sheriff is the top LEO in the county. However he is still subject to the law. Apparently he broke the law by destroying arrest records and I assume under those circumstances the Gov can have him charged with a crime and arrested by state police.

I hate to confuse the conversation with facts, but the Governor didn’t arrest anyone. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement got a warrant to arrest the Sheriff for official misconduct. That creates a vacancy the Governor has to fill.

Scott knows that Charlie took about 1.5 million voters with him into the nether regions of the Florida Democrat machine ~ and he cant win without showing some Fascist Vigor. That explains a lot. It explains why George Zimmerman is going to trial.

I believe the State Police / Highway Patrol are considered the Governors police agency.
They are accountable to him , only !

In Texas, a constable can arrest a sheriff. I know that because it was pointed out to me by a constable in a Texas county where I lived.

I voted for him against Sink, but after the George Zimmerman stunt, Iwill not vote for him again. I won’t vote for the Democrat, but I damn sure won’t vote for Scott.

Interesting. I'll hold out for more info before deciding who's wrong. Sum'n' strange gon' on in that part of Florida.
I don't remember which county, Liberty? Taylor maybe?, has something cronyism odd going on with the locals and landowners, horse breeders and should be avoided.

This problem with Crist is not universal ~ in some places you can dump the RINO with little penalty. In Florida Charlie had his own following and they are far from fickle people ~ they stuck with him.
Although Republicans are better off without Charlie they cannot win elections without finding some REPLACEMENT VOTERS.
